After the Palace confirmed that Prince William and the Princess of Wales (formerly known as Kate Middleton) were moving out of their current house to another property in Windsor, reports surfaced that some other families were forced to leave their homes because of the Waleses.

A Kensington Palace spokesperson said that the couple and their three children will be moving later this year to Forest Lodge, located on the grounds of Windsor Park. It’s a place the family wants to be their “forever” home. But their move came with surprise for two families who live near the eight-bedroom residence.

According to the Daily Mail, the families who lived in cottages next to the mansion were informed that they had to vacate the properties. The cottages, which were converted from Forest Lodge’s stables, are rented out by the Crown Estate. No eviction notices were issued in advance, and the tenants were said to be surprised when they were they were told to leave.

“They were told to move out,” an insider shared with the outlet. “I guess they were given somewhere else, but they were told they had to move. They were not expecting it. Those houses are very close to the Lodge, so they’re not going to want any Tom, Dick, or Harry living in those houses if there are going to be royals there.”

Royal expert Richard Fitzwilliams explained to Fox News Digital that the families were asked to relocate due to “security reasons,” but the residents are still allowed to stay on “Crown Estate Land.”

“They were reportedly in close proximity to the Lodge,” Fitzwilliams said. “The Prince and Princess of Wales need shelter from the enormous pressures of royal life with a media circus watching everything they do.”
