In a recent interview, Miley Cyrus admitted she is not passionate about becoming a mom. While she admires all the work her own mother did while raising children, she does not think she wants to follow the same path. A number of people have praised her for her honesty about not wanting children.

Miley Cyrus said she doesn’t feel ‘passionate’ about being a mom

A number of pop stars have branched out to the makeup industry. Rihanna, Selena Gomez, Lady Gaga, Ariana Grande, and many more have started their own makeup lines. Miley Cyrus says she has no interest in following in her peers’ footsteps.

“My stepdad asked me the other day, ‘Why are you the only one without a makeup line?’” Cyrus told The New York Times Magazine. “I was like, ‘Cause that’s not my passion.’ He goes, ‘That’s the right answer.’ And it made so much sense. It’s like, ‘I don’t have a makeup line because I’m not a makeup artist.’”

She admitted she felt similarly about becoming a parent. She doesn’t think it is something she should do just because other people are.

“I feel that way about motherhood,” she said. “It’s just never been something that I’ve been overly passionate about. It’s a lot of responsibility and devotion and energy, and if you’re not passionate about that, I don’t know how you do sleepless nights and 18 years of what my mom dealt with.”

Fans have praised Miley Cyrus for her comments about being a mom

A number of people have celebrated Cyrus’ comments. They have said that it feels refreshing to hear a celebrity express these opinions about motherhood.

“I LOVEEE that she said this about motherhood,” wrote one Reddit user. “I feel Guilty I dont Want kids but I don’t HAVE TO want them.”

Some people found it funny that Cyrus compared having children to starting a makeup line, but they agreed with both points.

“Lol I love the diss on celebrity makeup lines,” one person wrote. “She made two very valid points imo!”

People have also said they respect her for not starting a makeup line like so many other celebrities.

“This is why I love Miley, she’s always been real,” wrote one person. “So many celebrities will push out anything to make an extra dollar. Like no shade to [Milly Bobby Brown] but why does she have a makeup line? How is that at all relevant to her brand? It’s stuff like that that makes celebrities so much more annoying when they release obvious cash grabs. I respect Miley for keeping it real instead of doing whatever she can to make an extra buck.”

People have also noted that Cyrus seems remarkably well-adjusted.

“Whoever she has as a therapist – I want that number,” wrote one person.

She has spoken about life as a child star

Though Cyrus said she doesn’t feel passionate about becoming a mother, she feels empathy and concern for children.  She said she has concerns about child stars after being one herself.

“Ariana [Grande] says there should be therapy for child actors, and I totally agree,” Cyrus said. “There should be a weekly check-in. I’ve been doing very consistent therapy since I was 17 or 18 years old, so I think I’ve cleared up a lot of the feelings that I had about being a child star, and now I don’t notice it so much because I don’t notice it in me.”

She said she feels an urge to check in with former child stars like Sabrina Carpenter.
