Farrah Abraham is one of several extremely polarizing former Teen Mom stars. The first to be fired from the series, she has carried a lot of resentment towards MTV for her dismissal. Apparently, MTV isn’t the only entity or person she resents. Based on what she has said recently, there is plenty of blame to go around. Abraham just took part in an A&E project about celebrity sex tapes, and she’s been promoting it hard. In a recent interview, Farrah Abraham says her relationship with her mother, Debra Danielsen, led her into the adult film industry; she claims she had mommy issues.

Farrah Abraham has always insisted she was happy with her decision to leave MTV behind and venture into the adult film industry. When her sex tape, Backdoor Teen Mom, was released in 2013, she alleged it was
leaked. She later admitted that she had signed a deal with Vivid Entertainment for the tape, describing the move as empowering and financially advantageous. Since then, she has released a second tape and built an entire career around adult entertainment. According to Abraham, she earns “millions” each year on OnlyFans.
Despite insisting she’s happy with her decision, Abraham recently suggested that maybe her foray into the industry didn’t happen at the best time. She even claims her mother drove her to it. In a strange and winding explanation for E! News, the former reality TV star contended that she agreed to film a sex tape because she was seeking out love and comfort. Farrah Abraham theorizes that she had a “mother wound” and sought outside validation because of it. She went on to claim her mother was never the mother she needed.
Most Teen Mom fans consider Debra Danielsen one of the most peculiar Teen Mom side characters. She had some rough moments on film, too. Still, it feels like a stretch to suggest she drove Abraham into the world of adult entertainment. Regardless, Abraham feels confident that her troubled relationship with her mother influenced her career path. While she has kept her career in adult entertainment, she’s dropped the parents. Farrah is mostly estranged from both her mother and her father, Michael Abraham.

Debra Danielsen told the outlet that she was “disappointed” that A&E glossed over the “real” reason for Abraham’s foray into pornography. She claims the mother of one’s “mental health struggles” is the root cause of her career and life choices. What mental health struggles might those be? While Abraham claims to have struggled with anxiety and depression in the past, Danielsen insists it is more serious than that. In 2018, Danielsen told In Touch Weekly that she believes Abraham suffers from Borderline Personality Disorder. The former Teen Mom has never shared if she has officially been diagnosed with anything, though.
