Fat Joe Claims $20 Million Lawsuit is Retaliation, Denies Having Sex with Teens
Fat Joe could find himself in legal trouble, just like other rappers, if a former hype man can prove his allegations are factual. Fat Joe is being sued for $20 million by Terrance “T.A.” Dixon. Dixon, Fat Joe’s former hype man, is accusing the “Lean Back” artist of a host of workplace transgressions, including sexual coercion. He also claims he witnessed criminal sex acts, alleging that the music star regularly seduced teen girls. Fat Joe, whose real name is Joseph Antonio Cartagena, has denied the claims. He says the lawsuit is retaliatory.
Fat Joe’s former employee accuses him of having sex with minors and sexual coercion
Fat Joe could find himself in serious trouble if his former hype man, T.A. Dixon, can prove even half of what he claims in a recently filed lawsuit. According to the U.S. Sun, Dixon filed a lawsuit against his former employer this month in New York. The paperwork accuses Fat Joe of coercing Dixon into thousands of sex acts.
Dixon’s claims aren’t confined to his own experiences with Fat Joe and his team. The hype man also contends he has knowledge of several illegal sexual encounters Cartagena had. In the filing, Dixon accuses the rapper of regularly having sex with teens between 15 and 16, noting three examples. Dixon said his then-boss groomed the teens, flew them to be with him, and paid their bills while routinely having sex with them.
The allegations levied against Fat Joe could have far-reaching consequences. Dixon is accusing Fat Joe of several felony crimes. Flying young women in from abroad would likely be considered sex trafficking. At this time, it does not appear that the rapper is being investigated.
The ‘What’s Luv?’ rapper denies all claims
Fat Joe doesn’t seem to be stressing Dixon’s accusations too much. While denying all the claims, Fat Joe tried to explain away the lawsuit. He said he believes Dixon’s lawsuit is nothing more than a retaliation attempt. Fat Joe actually filed a preemptive lawsuit against Dixon months ago.
In April, Fat Joe filed a defamation and extortion lawsuit against Dixon and his lawyer. In his filing, Cartagena claims that the former hypman orchestrated a deliberate campaign of false, evolving accusations to “financially burden him.” He says Dixon attempted to extort money from him months before he filed the lawsuit. Fat Joe and his attorney have some choice words for Dixon’s lawyer, Tyrone Blackburn, too. In the filing, they claim Blackburn has a history of creating a media spectacle with salacious accusations. Blackburn has been involved in several high-profile cases, including Sean ‘Diddy’ Combs’ ongoing civil and criminal issues.
