Former Ole Miss star and NFL first-round pick Robert Nkemdiche was arrested and jailed following a reported grocery store theft.

According to a police report obtained by TMZ Sports, in late February, a cop doing surveillance spotted Nkemdiche leaving a Kroger store in Georgia with “many large objects, square and rectangular shapes, consistent with concealed grocery items inside his sweatpants.”

As the officer waited for backup, he observed Nkemdiche walk to a nearby gas station. When that officer confronted the former football player, the items inside his pants were gone. However, candy bars, almond milk, and frozen food items were found in the gas station’s parking lot.

A Kroger representative confirmed that the items were taken from that store but declined to press charges and only “wanted Nkemdiche criminally trespassed from the establishment.” After running Nkemdiche’s name though, it was revealed that he had several warrants in multiple states and he was taken into custody.

Nkemdiche has been arrested in the past for drug possession, disorderly conduct, driving under the influence, driving with a suspended license, and shoplifting a bottle of wine from a gas station.

After three years at Ole Miss, he was selected by the Arizona Cardinals with the 29th pick in the 2016 NFL Draft. He also had stints with the Miami Dolphins and the Seattle Seahawks. Nkemdiche last played for the Edmonton Elks of the Canadian Football League in 2024.
