French Montana doesn’t often shy away from the media. The rapper has been open about his drug use, his medical issues, and how he wants to move past his prior troubles. He’ll chat about fashion, music, and performing. There is apparently one topic that is currently off-limits. French Montana doesn’t want to talk about Sean ‘Diddy’ Combs. A content creator who recently caught up with the musical artist learned that the hard way.

French Montana walks away from questions about Diddy

Last week, Joe Analoro, a digital content creator, caught up with French Montana at an airport. Montana was more than happy to hang out and talk for a bit. He happily answered questions about the Met Gala and the planned theme for the upcoming event. What he didn’t want to deal with was questions about Diddy.

Analoro seemingly hit a nerve when he asked the artist if he had spoken to Diddy this year. Montana simply turned around and walked away, with his bodyguard following close behind. Montana’s team asked Analora not to publish the video, but he did share it on Instagram. While the question may seem invasive, there was a better way to deal with it than simply walking off. Montana’s silence might speak louder than any comment he could have given.

How is French Montana connected to Sean ‘Diddy’ Combs?

In 2012, French Montana signed with Diddy’s Bad Boy Records, a move he described as aligning with a visionary mentor. Diddy and Montana worked together and appeared to respect each other beyond music, too. It was a partnership that lasted more than a decade.

Montana helped foster Diddy and Drake’s reconciliations and was often seen out with Diddy. No one questioned the friendship until late 2024, after Diddy was arrested. Clips of French Montana with Diddy resurfaced and had fans questioning the connection and how involved the “Unforgettable” artist was with Diddy’s activities. Despite speculation, French Montana has not been named in any lawsuits.

While French Montana is no longer part of Diddy’s musical team, he has been careful not to say anything bad about the disgraced music mogul or his record label. He discussed the decision to part ways months before Diddy was arrested during an interview with DJ Vlad in April 2024. He made it clear that his departure was amicable, stating, “I fulfilled everything. I made sure everybody got their money. I made sure Puff got his money.”

When does the disgraced music mogul’s trial begin?

French Montana’s desire not to speak on Diddy is likely connected to the rap mogul’s upcoming trial. While Montana hasn’t been implicated in any wrongdoing, his connection to Diddy has been called into question and could be further investigated as the trial draws near.

Diddy’s trial for sex trafficking and racketeering is set to begin on May 5. The trial will take place at the Daniel Patrick Moynihan United States Courthouse at 500 Pearl Street in New York City. Diddy is being held at the Metropolitan Detention Center in Brooklyn. He has been at the facility since September 2024.
