From Taylor Swift to Sydney Sweeney: Scooter Braun Finds His Way Back Into the Headlines
If you’re a fan of Justin Bieber, then you’ve known the name Scooter Braun for quite some time. Braun discovered the singer back in 2008 after stumbling upon his YouTube videos. He then worked as Bieber’s manager until 2023.
But for someone who discovered one of the most famous stars on the planet, Braun managed to keep his name out of the headlines for a while. But his name is back in the news, and it has nothing to do with his former client.
Braun has faced significant negative press due to his public feud with another one of the world’s biggest pop stars. He’s also made recent headlines as people are interested in his love life since he happens to be dating a famous actress now.
Braun received bad press for his battle with Taylor Swift over her music
Braun has been known to have had contentious relationships with some of his clients, such as Ariana Grande who left his company and fired him.
But that’s not the only reason his reputation has taken a hit. He gained worldwide negative attention because of his public feud with Taylor Swift over her master recordings.
Braun never managed Swift as she left Big Machine Records in 2018. But the following year, Braun’s media company, Ithaca Holdings, acquired the Big Machine Label for $300 million. Through the deal, Braun acquired Swift’s music catalog for her first six albums — meaning he’d control of most of her work. Swift was very upset since she had been trying to buy back her own masters herself. So Swift decided to rerecorded all those songs and brilliantly added, “Taylor’s Version.” That move diminished the value of the originals.
In 2025, Braun’s name was back in the news when Swift officially reclaimed ownership of the master recordings.
Some of Braun’s other famous clients through the years have included Demi Lovato, Kanye West, Usher, Karlie Kloss, Tori Kelly, Carly Rae Jepsen, The Black Eyed Peas, J Balvin, and Idina Menzel.
Braun is making headlines again for his love life with Sweeney
Another reason you’ve likely seen Braun’s name in the news again is because of his relationship with Euphoria star Sydney Sweeney.
Braun was married to Yael Cohen from 2014 to 2022. In 2024, romance rumors between him and Sweeney began after the two were both guests at Amazon founder Jeff Bezos’ wedding.
Sources have claimed that things between them have gotten more serious over the last couple of months, telling Us Weekly, “They are dating and it has become more serious … Sydney has been having a lot of fun with Scooter. It’s not a casual relationship. It’s game on–it’s full throttle. They are together.”
Another insider explained that Braun has offered Sweeney more than just romance as “Scooter has introduced her to new perspectives, especially when it comes to business. Sydney has been soaking up the knowledge he brings from working across so many different sectors and industries. She respects his drive and ambition, which has inspired her in her own life.”
