Usher was once Justin Bieber’s mentor, but recent reports indicate that they are no longer on such good terms. Many sources reported that the two artists nearly got into a physical altercation at Beyoncé and Jay-Z’s post-Oscars party. A friend of Usher’s said that reports of the disagreement made things out to sound worse than they were.

Usher and Justin Bieber reportedly got into a fight at an Oscars after-party

Bieber and Usher both attended an Oscars after-party hosted by Beyoncé and Jay-Z. Big names like Taylor Swift, Teyana Taylor, Ryan Coogler, Austin Butler, and Timothée Chalamet were also guests at the party.

After the party, sources told TMZ that the once-close Bieber and Usher got into a disagreement. Usher reportedly approached Bieber with “energy and anger,” sparking a “heated exchange.” Sources added that the two singers nearly came to blows.

A friend of Usher shared what happened between Justin Bieber and Usher

These reports are shocking, given the previously solid relationship between Bieber and Usher. Da Brat, a friend of Usher, claimed that they weren’t entirely accurate.

“I spoke to Usher, and he said, ‘This is an exaggeration of the conversation,’” Da Brat said on The Rickey Smiley Show (via Page Six). “He’s been nothing but supportive of plenty of issues that Justin Bieber has had throughout the years and y’all can actually check the records for all that, he has been.”

She added that her friend has no ill will towards the younger artist.

“Justin is on his own journey, dealing with his own reality that he’s created,” she said. “Usher wishes him nothing but the best, and they have no hostility towards each other.”

She noted that people made the initial reports out to be something far bigger than what they were in reality.

“People just take stuff out of context when they see something and they run with it, and I’m just here to say that is not the issue,” she said. “They are definitely cool with each other, and they have love and they support each other.”

The ‘OMG’ singer recently made headlines for his words about Sean ‘Diddy’ Combs

Usher recently made headlines again for comments he made about Sean “Diddy” Combs. In an interview with Forbes, Usher was asked for the word that comes to mind when he thinks of Combs. He responded with the word “legacy.”

“I mean, this might be a bit controversial, but in the same way I think many people choose to look past the reality of what our country is, the standards that we now stand on, we can’t ignore the reality of the history,” he said. “But in many ways, um, I think certain people are prosecuted and maybe not recognized for the greatness, you know … that they offer.”

He stated that his own experiences with Combs do not align with his current public image.

“I don’t have anything negative to say about Sean Combs because my experience was not what the world has seen and how he’s been misrepresented.”

Combs was once a mentor to Usher.

“I put respect on his name because I realized that what I learned as a businessman — before I even understood what business was — came as a result of seeing the incredible things that he was able to do and the way that he positioned himself as a businessman,” he said.

Combs is currently serving out a 50-month prison sentence for transportation for prostitution.
