Jenelle Evans has been keeping a big secret. No, the secret isn’t that she’s back together with David Eason. She hasn’t been any good at hiding that. Apparently, Jenelle has been keeping the whereabouts of her eldest son, Jace Evans, a secret. Reportedly, the teen is currently in an inpatient mental health facility, and it’s unclear how long he’ll be receiving treatment. Jenelle’s current relationship status might have something to do with the situation, though.

Jace Evans was sent to a mental health facility as criminal charges against David Eason loom

Jace Evans, the eldest son of Jenelle Evans, has been sent to an inpatient mental health facility, reports TMZ. The 16-year-old was reportedly shipped off to an inpatient facility back in February after police responded to the North Carolina home of Barbara Evans, where the teen was living. The outlet claims that police received a call about a troubled teen, though what facilitated that call was unknown to the outlet.

An insider spoke to the Ashley Reality Roundup Group and claimed that Jenelle Evans actually placed the call from across the country. The unnamed insider alleges that Jace became upset when his mother rekindled her romance with David Eason. When Barbara Evans told Jenelle her son was struggling with the news, she called the police. Reportedly, she was not in North Carolina at the time.

Before the most recent incident, Jace Evans had been living back with his grandmother, Barbara Evans, for several months without any public trouble. The teen headed home to North Carolina in August 2025 after he shared texts between himself and his mother on social media. He was reportedly helping out at home after Barbara suffered a stroke in October 2025.

Prior to moving back to North Carolina, Jace was removed from Jenelle Evans’ home at least once after she placed a 911 call. During that call, she claimed he was breaking things inside the rental property. He was also briefly sent to live with his biological father, Andrew Lewis, though that lasted just weeks. The bulk of Jace’s troubles became public after he moved from his grandmother’s home to his mother’s home in 2023. Jace spent the majority of his young life with his grandmother. She was granted custody of the now-teen when he was just a toddler.

The timing of the entire situation is pretty suspicious

As we previously reported, Jenelle Evans has been denying getting back together with David Eason. However, she’s been entertaining him across Nevada for the past several weeks. Still, the former reality TV star insists she and her ex-husband are merely “co-parenting” Ensley Eason effectively. Absolutely no one on this planet believes that. It’s pretty obvious, based on everything David, Jenelle, and Eason’s ex, Kenleigh Heatwole, have posted, that the former flames are very much back together.

Jenelle might not want to send out wedding invitations for their second shot at love just yet, though. The timing of the reconciliation is a bit suspicious. The timing of Jace’s mental health stay is equally suspicious. Eason appeared to be suddenly interested in his ex-wife and the daughter they share, just weeks before he was headed to trial for assaulting Jace Evans in 2023. The incident, which ended with felony strangulation charges, was the catalyst for the couple’s big split.

An insider told the Ashley Reality Roundup Group that Jenelle might be trying to influence the outcome of Eason’s case by having Jace’s mental health called into question. The source claims the teen was expected to testify against David Eason.
