Aniston and Witherspoon have been friends for decades, but during a recent interview, a big revelation came to light. Jennifer Aniston learned Reese Witherspoon’s legal name for the very first time right on camera. Her reaction is absolutely hilarious.

Jennifer Aniston probably didn’t think she was going to learn anything shocking when she sat down for an interview with her longtime friend and co-star, Reese Witherspoon. At the very least, we are sure she didn’t think she’d learn that the woman she’d called Reese Witherspoon for years has an entirely different legal name. That’s what happened, though.

Aniston and WItherspoon appeared together on LAD Bible to play a game of “Do You Even Know Me?” Before the game began, Witherspoon joked that they couldn’t possibly lose. As it turns out, they absolutely could. In the third round, Witherspoon asked Aniston to come up with her “real” middle name. Aniston guessed wrong, but was even more shocked when Witherspoon revealed her full legal name is Laura Jean Witherspoon, with Reese serving as her true “middle” name.  

You can actually see Aniston processing the information. She quickly blurts out, “Who the hell’s Laura?” She goes on to joke that she’ll be calling Witherspoon Laura Jeanne from now on. The old friends moved on to new questions, but the shock never fully wore off. To be fair, Witherspoon isn’t the only one who hasn’t mentioned her full name. She walked away with a new nickname for Aniston, too. She joked she’ll be calling Aniston “JJ” now that she knows her middle name is Joanne.

Jennifer Aniston’s decades-long friendship with Reese Witherspoon didn’t ensure she knew the starlet’s legal name. Other stars have been similarly caught off guard. That leads us to wonder who, if anyone, calls the A-lister by her birth name. Witherspoon has addressed the topic before.

Witherspoon has been using the name Reese as her given name for so long professionally that no one in the industry calls her Laura. She did note that some family and close friends from her childhood still use her given name. Still, in Hollywood, she has always been known as Reese. Even her earliest acting credits are under the name Reese Witherspoon. With that being said, she has quipped that her mother calls her Laura when things are about to turn serious.

Considering how long she’s been in the industry and how often she’s called by her stage name, it would make sense that she’d simply identify with that moniker. We do wonder if Jennifer Aniston is out there somewhere calling Reese Witherspoon, Laura Jeanne now.
