Jennifer Hudson says shared roots make her relationship easy

Jennifer Hudson’s romance with Common appears to be floating along peacefully. The couple, who have been dating since at least 2022, just seem to enjoy each other. They don’t have drama or rumors surrounding them, and they keep things low-key. Simply put, Hudson and Common seem to be two people who are committed to making it work. E! She was quick to answer. Hudson said that their shared roots are a big part of what makes their romance work. She said they are very similar souls, born and raised in the same area. Hudson and Common were both born and raised in Chicago. While born nine years apart, the music artists actually grew up less than 15 minutes from each other.

Hudson was born in 1981 and was raised in the Englewood neighborhood in Chicago’s South Side. Common, who was born Lonnie Rashid Lynn Jr. in 1972, was raised in Calumet Heights, also on the city’s South Side. The neighborhoods are just about 10 miles apart. Hudson isn’t the only one who thinks their Chicago upbringings make it easier for them to connect. Common has commented on it, too. He once joked that he and his love share a “South Side spirit.”

Jennifer Hudson calls Common a blessing and a light

News that she and her longtime beau have similar spirits and outlooks on life. She also said that he is someone who keeps her grounded, calling him a “blessing” and a “light.” Hudson also said she respects him for who he is.
