Months after finalizing their divorce, Jennifer Lopez and Ben Affleck are still trying to sell their house. The former couple pulled their house off the market in July after failing to find a buyer. Now, it’s back on the mark, though at a significantly lower price. According to family law attorney Patrick Baghdaserians, this should not come as a surprise.

Jennifer Lopez and Ben Affleck lowered the asking price on their house

Though Affleck and Lopez pulled their home off the market over the summer, they recently relisted the property. The couple initially wanted $68 million for the house, which they purchased for almost $61 million in 2023. Now, they’ve put it back on the market for just $52,000,000. This is the second time they have reduced the price on the home.

Baghdaserians, a Certified Family Law Specialist at Baghdaserians Law Group, shared why Lopez and Affleck might have chosen to put their home back on the market now.

“In general, $50 million-plus homes don’t sell that easily,” he told Showbiz Cheat Sheet in an email statement. “With more stability on tariffs and interest rates, it totally makes sense right now since there’s less economic turmoil to list the home. And it’s always better to sell in the summer months, that goes for huge mansions and regular homes.”

Lopez reportedly did not want to lower the price. Baghdaserians said that even though she might not be happy about it, she likely did it to avoid a court order.

“There’s a report that Jennifer was dragging her feet as it pertains to the listing,” he said. “I’m not surprised they came to an informal agreement to reduce the price significantly. Had she not agreed to that, the court would’ve had jurisdiction to order a price reduction if Ben asked for it through a formal request.”

He noted that the former couple needed to lower the price because they likely have to sell the house as part of the divorce judgment.

“The divorce judgment probably called for the sale of the property,” he said. “The court has retained jurisdiction to sell the property and divide the proceeds. Each party has an ongoing fiduciary duty even after a judgment is entered if there are assets that still need to be divided.”

Jennifer Lopez reportedly wasn’t happy with Ben Affleck for lowering the price of their house

As noted, Lopez has reportedly expressed frustration with the lowered price.

“She’s furious and is taking this very personally,” an insider told RadarOnline. “Of course, she can afford to take a loss on it, but it’s not really about the money for her; it’s the principle of it. J.Lo has poured so much time and energy into the renovations and doesn’t see why she has to take a loss just because Ben is in a hurry to get this over with.”

Still, other sources have reported that the decision to lower the price of the home was mutual.

She’s also reportedly frustrated with his communication style

Some sources say that the lowered price is not the only reason Lopez is upset with Affleck. She has reportedly found his communication style aggravating.
