Jennifer Lopez married her second husband shortly after breaking up with Sean “Diddy” Combs. Her relationship with Combs was tumultuous, and her subsequent marriage to Cris Judd lasted less than a year. She admitted that she likely wouldn’t have jumped into things with Judd so quickly if it hadn’t been for Combs.

Jennifer Lopez said her relationship with Sean ‘Diddy’ Combs was rocky

Lopez and Combs began dating in 1999. She admitted that their relationship was not easy on her. She suspected him of cheating on her.

”It was the first time I was with someone who wasn’t faithful,” Lopez said, per Entertainment Weekly. ”I was in this relationship with Puff where I was totally crying, crazy and going nuts, it really took my whole life in a tailspin.”

While she said she never caught Combs in the act of cheating on her, she felt confident that he was unfaithful.

”I can’t remember right now, but I won’t say it didn’t happen,” she said. ”I never caught him but I just knew. He’d say he was going to a club for a couple of hours and then never come back that night.”

She realized that she couldn’t see the relationship working in the long term.

“I had to think, do I want to be home with kids in 10 years wondering where somebody is at three in the morning?”

They ended things for good in 2001.

Jennifer Lopez said Sean ‘Diddy’ Combs made her jump into her second marriage

In 2001, not long after Lopez and Combs broke up, she married Judd, her second husband. He was a backup dancer on her “Love Don’t Cost a Thing” music video. Lopez doubts that she would have jumped into marriage so quickly if her relationship with Combs hadn’t been so rocky.

”Coming out of a torrid relationship, I meet this sweet person who’s so refreshing,” she said. ”But marriage is not just about love. I thought I had learned that in my first marriage…. I loved Cris, still love him, he’s one of the best people.”

She said she quickly realized that their marriage wasn’t going to work despite how much she loved Judd.

“This wasn’t an easy thing to walk away from, but we didn’t have what it takes to make a marriage work,” she said. “Cris knows the last thing I ever wanted in this f***ing world was to hurt him.”

They ended things nine months after tying the knot.

Cris Judd said it wasn’t always easy to date a celebrity

While Judd was in the entertainment industry, his life completely changed when he married someone as famous as Lopez.

“You know it’s very tough,” Judd told Us Weekly. “Your privacy is breached. You’re no longer a normal person. [Our wedding] was a circus. I think several people got arrested trying to climb up a mountain… trying to sneak in. We actually rented the airspace.”

He said it took him time to adjust to the new attention on his life.

“You kind of have to take it and accept it and embrace it,” he said. “Once you stop fighting it, it smooths itself over. If you try to keep that privacy, it drives you nuts and that’s why people break.”

Judd said that while his marriage to Lopez didn’t work out, he has no hard feelings toward her.
