Jessa and Ben Seewald announced the birth of their sixth baby, Edward Owen Seewald, via Instagram and in a multi-part YouTube video over a month ago. Since the baby’s late July birth, the Seewald family has been focusing on settling in as a family of eight, leaving Duggar family followers out in the cold. Jessa recently returned to Instagram to check in with fans and followers. She opted to showcase her six-week-old baby in her most recent upload. She even shared the nickname they use for the infant. While the Seewalds and some followers found it funny, others were positively outraged.
The Seewald family has a fun nickname for their newest baby
Jessa Seewald’s sixth child was born weighing 10 pounds, significantly heavier than the average newborn. While birth weight isn’t always an indication that a child will continue to remain larger than average, it holds true for Jessa’s sixth child. The mother of six took to Instagram to debut her six-week-old baby, and boy, is he cute. The infant is also extra chunky. Along with several photos of Edward practically bursting out of his onesie, Jessa shared how surprising life with Edward has been.
She pointed out that the family is well aware of Edward’s extra-large size. Jessa said they’ve even come up with a nickname for him based on the fun fact. Instead of opting for a traditional nickname, like Eddie or Ward, she said the family calls him “your royal fatness” right now. The cute anecdote delighted some followers, many of whom swooned over the chubby baby and his baby blues. Not everyone was thrilled with the nickname, though.
Some Duggar critics think the Seewald baby’s nickname is damaging
Jessa Seewald shared her baby’s nickname as a fun way to connect with fans. She probably didn’t think that there would be critics in the comments. They were there, though, and they were ready to rip into her for the playful moniker. Several fans were quick to weigh in, asking her to stop calling the baby “fat.”
One commenter theorized that the nickname might stick, especially with so many siblings running around. They believe it could be damaging and used to bully the youngest Seewald baby as he grows up. Another suggested that “fat-shaming” the baby on the internet could be damaging to other children who might come across the post. Another suggested Jessa was being mean to her child. Jessa said nothing negative about her chubby infant. In fact, her intention was clearly the opposite. Jessa hasn’t added any additional uploads, but we suspect Edward Seewald is still being called “your royal fatness,” despite fan objections.
