Jessica Simpson is open to love, but she’s not open to the idea of finding it on a TV show. The popstar’s very public split from Eric Johnson is a year old now, and while she’s yet to file for divorce, she’s not against the idea of dating. Still, a stint on The Bachelorette is apparently a big no-go for her. Simpson has made that much clear.

Jessica Simpson doesn’t want to find love on TV

The Bachelorette might be a good fit for Taylor Frankie Paul, but it’s not a good fit for Jessica Simpson. At least, that’s what she told TMZ. The outlet caught up with Simpson last week at the airport, and she was willing to answer some questions. When asked if she’d considered a stint on a dating show like The Bachelorette, she scoffed. Jessica Simpson insists she has options in her quest for love, and ABC’s help is absolutely not needed.

While Jessica Simpson isn’t into the idea of finding love on a dating show, several other celebrities have suggested they might be interested, but those are mostly women looking at the “golden” iteration of the series. Simpson isn’t near her “golden years” yet. There were whispers last year that Susan Lucci was in talks to appear. She later confirmed the rumors. Kathy Griffin threw her hat into the ring, though she suggested a slightly more risque form of the series. Kathy Lee Gifford was also rumored to be in consideration.

Who has she dated

Jessica Simpson and Eric Johnson’s relationship drama has played out in the public eye, despite the couple’s intense efforts to keep their private life private. It makes sense that she wouldn’t want to find love on TV, considering how she’s conducted her romantic life in the years since her short-lived reality TV career. Simpsons is right, too. She doens’t need much help in the love department. She’s had several significant relationships with very high-profile men over the years.

Her most recent relationship is obviously with Eric Johnson. They were first spotted together way back in 2010. In 2012, they welcomed their first child together, followed by a second baby the following year. In 2014, they tied the knot before adding their third child, Birdie, to the family in 2019.

Things between the pair seemed pretty solid until September 2024, when fans noticed Johnson wasn’t featured in Simpson’s “back to school” photo roundup on Instagram. They also noted that she stopped wearing her wedding ring. In January 2025, they announced their separation, though they haven’t yet filed for divorce.

Before tying the knot for the second time, Jessica Simpson found love with several other men. She was ever so briefly married to Nick Lachey. Their early marriage was featured on a reality TV show. After her divorce from Lachey was finalized, she moved on to John Mayer. The pair had a very public on-again-off-again relationship. She famously dated Tony Romo and had rumored romances with Billy Corgan, Johnny Knoxville, and Adam Levine before settling down with Johnson.
