Jill Zarin’s return to reality TV is over before it even started. The former The Real Housewives of New York City star has been dumped by E! after her criticism of Bad Bunny and the Super Bowl halftime show went viral over the weekend. While Zarin has since deleted the offensive upload, everyone from her new network to her daughter to her late husband’s business is distancing themselves from her. It looks like E! has moved especially fast, finding her replacement on The Golden Life in a matter of days. The well-known replacement is kind of a lateral move, though.

What did Jill Zarin say about Bad Bunny?

Jill Zarin thwarted her own return to reality TV by commenting about the Super Bowl halftime show. Shortly after Bad Bunny performed at the Super Bowl, Zarin took to Instagram to share her thoughts, and they were anything but nice. In the offensive rant, Zarin called the performance “inappropriate,” lamented that there were no “white people” in the show, and that she couldn’t understand anything.

Her comment garnered quick backlash. Her daughter, Ally Shapiro, took to social media to offer her own take. Shapiro, whom Jill once interrogated on The Real Housewives of New York City for taking a Latin film class, praised the performance.

Not long after the rant, E! announced that Zarin would not be joining the cast of The Golden Life. The Golden Life is a planned The Real Housewives of New York City reunion show. The series is set to begin filming in Palm Beach in the spring.

E! fires Jill Zarin and finds her ‘The Golden Life’ replacement in just days

It didn’t take long for E! to act after Jill Zarin’s offensive comments went viral. The network sent her packing almost immediately, a move that Zarin insists was unfair. The former Bravo star claims that her upload was a “mistake” and that she deleted the video quickly. She seems to think her quick actions in response to the backlash should have somehow saved her job. No one agrees.

While E! acted quickly, their hurry to find a stand-in could backfire. Very few people agree with the person E! has reportedly picked as Jill Zarin’s replacement, though. According to Page Six, Dorinda Medley will be stepping into the hole left by Zarin’s departure. The outlet claims Medley was always meant to join the show in some capacity, but Zarin’s exit altered how she’ll appear and how the network will handle her inclusion.

While Medley is likely to be a ratings pull, she’s pretty problematic herself. During her tenure on The Real Housewives of New York City, she was accused of being a mean-spirited bully, especially to Tinsley Mortimer. She regularly verbally attacked her co-stars, went out of her way to create drama, and made offensive comments on multiple occasions. She has been accused of being transphobic and having a drinking problem. Time hasn’t exactly softened her, either. She was defensive and arrogant during her time on The Traitors, too.
