Jim Bob and Michelle Duggar Focus on Kendra and Her Kids in Their First Statement Since Joseph Duggar’s Arrest
Jim Bob Duggar was spotted in Panama City, Florida, for his son, Joseph Duggar’s first hearing in the state. The troubled Duggar son stands accused of molesting a child back in 2020. While Jim Bob is on hand to deal with Joseph’s legal troubles, he spent the last week distancing himself from the 31-year-old real estate agent. Not only did Jim Bob not visit his son while he was in an Arkansas detention center, but he and Michelle Duggar made almost no mention of him in their first public statement since the arrest. Their statement about the charges focused almost entirely on Kendra Caldwell and the four children she shares with Joseph Duggar.
Jim Bob and Michelle Duggar never mentioned Joseph Duggar’s name in their first statement since his arrest.
Jim Bob and Michelle Duggar have officially commented on their son’s March 18 arrest for lewd and lascivious behavior, and it’s clear they want some distance from Joseph Duggar. In a statement released by a spokesperson to USA Today, Jim Bob and Michelle Duggar state that they are heartbroken by the charges brought against their third-oldest son. The spokesperson went on to claim the couple is praying for the victim, and focusing their attention on Kendra Caldwell and supporting the four children she shares with Joseph Duggar.
The statement has caught some Duggar family followers by surprise. While the couple is clearly trying to keep their distance, their decision to never mention their son by name feels especially cold. Their focus on Kendra and the kids, however, tracks. They suggested they were focusing thier efforts on Anna Duggar and the children she shared with Joshua Duggar when he was arrested back in 2021.
Michelle Duggatr was spotted taking care of business for Kendra
The couple’s focus on Kendra in their public statement matches how Michelle, in particular, has been behaving since her son’s March 18 arrest. Michelle was spotted picking Kendra up from a local lockup after she was arrested on child endangerment and false imprisonment charges on March 20. While her face was obscured in photos published by the Daily Mail, it’s more than clear that Michelle was the lady on the scene. It is presumed that she posted the $1,500 bond for the 27-year-old mother.
While it is unclear where Kendra and her four children are currently residing, Michelle was more than willing to go toe-to-toe with an alleged reporter in the days after the arrest. In a TikTok video, Michelle approaches an alleged reporter who drove onto private property seeking an interview. Michelle, angered by the intrusion, records as she yells at the man to leave, insisting he may not have an interview, and informing him he is on private property. She claimed, in the upload, that she was “protecting children.” Her assertive demeanor is a far cry from her on-screen meek and maternal persona. Kendra and the kids were not spotted, though it’s clear that was who she was trying to protect.
