He’s not calm about all the family arrests this month, though. In a leaked jailhouse email to his son, Joseph Duggar, Jim Bob called Kendra Caldwell’s arrest “ridiculous” and hopes the charges will be dropped.

Jim Bob Duggar seems to accept his son, Joseph Duggar, will be prosecuted for child molestation. In a leaked jailhouse email, Jim Bob told his 31-year-old son that he’ll need to accept “big consequences” for his actions. He suggested that Joseph focus on his faith during the fallout. The take is glaringly different from how he feels about the second Duggar family arrest that occured two weeks ago.
In the email, shared by a Reddit user, Jim Bob appears incensed that Kendra Caldwell was arrested and charged with child endangerment and false imprisonment. He tells Joseph that he’s attempting to take care of the situation and that he hopes the lawyer they hired for the 27-year-old mother of four will get the charges dropped. He calls her arrest “ridiculous,” but fails to hash out the origin of the charges.
In a recorded phone call, Kendra revealed that Travis Story would be representing her on the child endangerment charges, though he was not taking on Joseph’s case. Story, a prominent lawyer in the Fayetteville, Arkansas area, has been connected to the Duggars for years. He previously represented Joshua Duggar.
Why was the mother of four arrested?
The details of Kendra Caldwell’s arrest remain murky. What we do know, from a family insider, is that the mother of four was arrested on four counts of child endangerment and four counts of false imprisonment after a home inspection went awry. The arrest, which took place on March 20, occured just two days after Joseph was charged with lewd and lascivious behavior with a minor under 12. Although the charges don’t stem from the same incident, Joseph’s arrest may have prompted the home visit.
It remains unclear what Kendra did to warrant the charges, but they appear pretty serious. While she spent just a few hours in a local jail before being released on bail, the arrest still has far-reaching consequences. Her children were removed from the home, and she has been ordered to have no contact with them until at least April 29.
Kendra will return to court on April 29. Joseph Duggar, out on bond, is expected to return to Panama City, Florida, on April 20 for his next court hearing. This is a developing story.
