Jinger noted that she was “heartbroken” and that she was living a week that felt like it stretched on for years. She went on to note that the situation was “unthinkable.” The couple called the victim brave for stepping forward and telling her story before reflecting on the “ripple effect” of Joseph’s alleged crimes. The victim, who was nine at the time of the incident, has not been named.

Joseph was arrested on March 18 for lewd and lascivious behavior with a minor under the age of 12. The victim, now 14, told police that Joseph inappropriately touched her during a family vacation to Panama City, Florida. The incident took place in 2020. It is unclear if it was a larger Duggar family vacation or if Joseph traveled to the beach solo. On March 20, his wife, Kendra Caldwell, was arrested for endangering the welfare of a child and false imprisonment. Joseph was also charged with the same count. The charges are not related to the Florida sex crime.
