In 2023, Kanye West, who now goes by Ye, said he was no longer antisemitic because of Jonah Hill’s performance in 21 Jump Street. Hill recently admitted that he found the post startling. Still, it has not impacted his appreciation of Ye’s music.

Jonah Hill praised Kanye West

In 2023, Ye posted that he liked Jewish people again after seeing 21 Jump Street. He made a series of antisemitic remarks before this.

“Watching Jonah Hill in ‘21 Jump Street’ made me like Jewish people again,” he wrote. “No one should take anger against one or two individuals and transform that into hatred towards millions of innocent people.”

Several years later, Hill admitted that he found the post odd, but he still wishes Ye the best.

“I felt that he did this bizarre public thing to kind of make up, like, ‘It’s all good cause I love Jonah,’” Hill said on The Zane Lowe Show (per Variety). “[It] just sat with me in a way that it’s, like, all good. I love him still, and I hope whatever happens, he can heal or whatever, and everyone can heal from all that stuff.”

While Hill said seeing Ye’s antisemitic remarks hasn’t been easy, he still loves his music. He considers him his favorite artist.

“I think there is no artist I probably love more across any genre ever. I think he is probably the greatest artist ever to live,” Hill said, adding, “He’s a genius, and the stuff with the hate stuff sucks. What are you going to say? It sucks, no matter who you are, to hear that. Now, do I know what’s going on? No. Am I going to punch someone while they’re down? No, of course not.”

Despite the post about Hill, Ye went on to make multiple hateful and antisemitic comments in recent years. He issued a public apology in January.
