After a period of wearing a scruffy beard, Justin Bieber recently stepped out with a cleanly shaved look. Many fans have celebrated the new look, and a beauty and grooming expert believes it speaks volumes. While Bieber has been candid about his mental health in recent months, grooming expert Danielle Louise said his clean-shaven appearance signals confidence.

Justin Bieber debuted a new look after sporting facial hair

In a recent appearance at a Dijon concert with his wife, Hailey Bieber, and Kendall Jenner, Bieber debuted a newly clean-shaven look. Just two days before, Bieber had a beard. Louise, a grooming expert at Fresha, said this could signal a shift in men’s grooming culture. It could also signal Bieber’s confidence in his appearance.

“For the last few years, facial hair was used by male celebs to show maturity or edge, but we’re seeing a full 180,” she tells Showbiz Cheat Sheet in an emailed statement. “The clean-shaven face signals confidence, not conformity. It’s less about hiding behind a beard and more about fresh-faced self-assurance. It tells a story of renewal — and men’s grooming is responding.”

She added that Bieber could be moving into a new chapter in his life after shaving his beard.

“When men make big facial hair changes, it’s rarely just cosmetic,” she said. “A shave can be a fresh start — shedding stress, public perception, or even career chapters. For some, it’s also a preparation step: removing everything before growing something new, like a refined moustache or goatee. We’re already seeing that style surge among Gen Z men who want individuality without the bulk of a full beard.”

Justin Bieber’s new look could be because of Hailey Bieber

Louise speculated that Bieber’s marriage to Hailey Bieber could have influenced his new look. She is a champion of the “clean girl look,” and he may have wanted to match her aesthetic.

“When one partner updates their look — especially someone as trend-defining as Hailey Bieber — it often sparks a shared aesthetic shift,” she explained. “More men are syncing skincare, haircare, and grooming routines with their partners than ever before. The ‘couple aesthetic’ isn’t just visual; it’s emotional and cultural — it shows alignment.”

He has spoken about his mental health

In a recent Twitch stream, Justin spoke candidly about his state of mind. He admitted he struggles not to compare himself to others’ success.

“Why is his life working out,” he wondered, “and mine is in shambles?”
