Justin Bieber canceled his 2022 Justice Tour in order to prioritize his health. While the singer and his team felt this was a necessary move, it was also a costly one. Bieber reportedly still owes $9 million after prematurely ending the tour.

Justin Bieber lost millions after he canceled a tour

In Feb. 2022, Bieber embarked on his Justice Tour. It was meant to run through March of 2023, but he canceled it six months early. He explained that he’d recently been diagnosed with Type 2 Ramsay Hunt syndrome.

“Earlier this year, I went public about my battle with Ramsay Hunt syndrome, where my face was partly paralyzed,” he wrote in a statement, per People. “As the result of this illness, I was not able to complete the North America leg of the Justice Tour.”

While he resumed touring for the European leg, he canceled the remaining dates after a performance in Brazil.

“This past weekend, I performed at Rock in Rio and I gave everything I have to the people in Brazil. After getting off stage, the exhaustion overtook me and I realized that I need to make my health the priority right now,” he wrote. “So I’m going to take a break from touring for the time being. I’m going to be OK, but I need time to rest and get better.”

Bieber reportedly incurred a debt of $20 million for canceling the tour. He now owes nearly $9 million of that to his former manager, Scooter Braun. Braun covered the debt, and Bieber has reportedly only paid a portion of it back.

Some have expressed concern about Justin Bieber’s financial situation

In 2022, Bieber sold his music catalog for $200 million. Some have worried the sale, particularly at Bieber’s young age, signaled financial problems. Sources say the debt from the tour is not the extent of his problems.

“He’s flying in all his friends on private jets to his birthday party, putting it all over Instagram,” one source told Page Six. “He’ll spend $300,000 at the Nobu at Coachella. He hasn’t worked in a really long time.”

His rep denied these reports

Bieber’s team has pushed back against the rumors about him.

“This is just clickbait stupidity based on unnamed — and clearly ill-informed — ‘sources,’ disappointed that they no longer work with Justin,” his rep said. “As Justin forges his own way forward, these unnecessary stories and inaccurate assumptions will continue. But, they won’t deter him from staying committed to following the right path.”

They also emphasized that Bieber is not in financial trouble.

“Any source that is trying to sell you a story about alleged financial distress … either doesn’t understand the entertainment industry or, more likely, is trying to paint an unflattering portrait of Justin, which bears no resemblance to reality.”

Bieber’s wife, Hailey Bieber, is also a successful model and the founder of Rhode Beauty. The company reportedly brings in $200 million annually.
