Justin Trudeau Wants Romance With Katy Perry to Stay ‘Low-Key’
Justin Trudeau and Katy Perry were first spotted together over the summer, and recent pictures of the two of them on a yacht seem to have confirmed their relationship. Perry and Trudeau got together amid her split from Orlando Bloom, so one of their first dates garnered a great deal of attention. Though Trudeau has long been in the public eye, he wasn’t expecting so much attention on his budding relationship.

On Oct. 12, photos emerged of Trudeau and Perry embracing on a yacht off the coast of Santa Barbara. The couple were first linked after Perry played shows in Canada over the summer. The news that they went to dinner together broke almost immediately, which Trudeau didn’t expect.
“Justin didn’t know so many people would find out about the private dinner,” a source told People. “He was also surprised by the international interest and how it went through the roof for days.”
Trudeau was the prime minister of Canada from 2015 to 2025 and is used to media attention. Still, he reportedly found the attention on his personal life to be overwhelming.
“As long as [media coverage] goes his way, then he’s fine,” the source said, but noted, “he would prefer it more low-key.”
Still, the attention wasn’t enough to push him away from the budding relationship.
“Justin and Katy are for sure attracted to each other on several levels and had a wonderful time together in Canada,” the source continues, adding, “They discovered how they agree on many things and really enjoyed their encounter in Canada for as short a time as it was.”

Perry and Trudeau’s relationship began amid her breakup, and she reportedly wasn’t looking to date anyone.
“When she first hung out with Justin, she wasn’t looking to date, but they stayed in touch,” a source told People. “They have many shared interests and a lot of talk about, but Katy was navigating too many things to even think about dating then.”
Trudeau has reportedly been “been pursuing her since” her Canadian tour dates over the summer.
“He even flew to California to see her during a tour break,” the source said. They have an easy connection. She finds him attractive. He’s been very respectful.”
They added that Perry and Trudeau have an “easy connection.”
She recently ended her relationship with Orlando Bloom
Perry’s burgeoning relationship comes on the heels of her split from longtime partner Orlando Bloom. The pair were together on and off for nine years, and confirmed their split after a long period of rumors.
“Katy and Orlando have been suffering through the same problems that have plagued them for years,” a source told People. “[They had] too much going on in their lives, which makes it hard to find time for each other and iron out disagreements. When they don’t communicate properly, their relationship dips to a low level.”
They reportedly wanted to make things work, but found it impossible. They are hoping to remain amicable for the sake of their daughter.
