Prince William and the Princess of Wales’ (formerly known as Kate Middleton) oldest son, Prince George, has been making headlines recently. That’s because the young royal is preparing for his future as he has begun attending some very important royal engagements.

In May 2025, the Princess of Wales held a special tea party at Buckingham Palace for World War II veterans on the 80th anniversary of VE Day, and she brought Prince George along. Then on Nov. 8, the young royal was accompanied by his mother to his first appearance at the Festival of Remembrance. Also in attendance at London’s Royal Albert Hall for the ceremony honoring military service members were King Charles, Queen Camilla, Prince Edward, the Duchess of Edinburgh, and other working members of the royal family.

Then on Nov. 11, Kate made a solo appearance at the annual Service of Remembrance for Armistice Day, where she met with several veterans. While her eldest child wasn’t with her for that, his name did come up.

What Kate said George ‘knows more about’ than she does

PA reporter Stephanie Wareham shared a video on X.com showing the Princess of Wales speaking with World War II veteran Geoffrey Spencer. He served in the Royal Air Force and when he chatted with Kate, she let him know that George is a “big fan” of the Lancaster Bombers that Spencer once flew. She went on to tell Spencer that her son is very knowledgeable of them too, saying that he “very much likes making AirFix models. He knows more about aircraft than I do.”

It’s thought that George has an interest in aviation that he got from Prince William. George was seen attending air shows when he was younger and was once photographed smiling brightly in a helicopter.

The Prince of Wales recently spoke about something else George loves and knows all about.

During the Apple TV series The Reluctant Traveler with Eugene Levy, Prince William admitted that his eldest child is a history buff. While the two were walking around Windsor Castle, William confessed that he may not be the most qualified tour guide and that Prince George would be much better.

“If you want to know about history, I’m not the guy,” William admitted. “Actually, George, my son, is way better in history than I am. I have to check with him now on my dates. I think I probably need some history lessons … I could do with that.”

What else Prince William recently revealed about his oldest son that surprised people

Prince George wasn’t far from his father’s mind during William’s recent trip to Brazil for the Earthshot Prize either. The heir apparent told television host Luciano Huck that none of his children, not even his oldest, have cell phones yet.

“Our children don’t have phones,” William said before sharing that George may get one sooner rather than later, but it will still have limited access. “I think when George moves on to secondary school, then maybe he will have a phone then — that has no internet access.”

Prince George will be moving to a different school next September.

“To be honest, it’s getting to the point where it’s becoming a little bit of a tense issue,” William admitted. “But I think he understands why. We communicate why we don’t think it’s right. I think it’s the internet access that I have a problem with. I think children can access too much stuff they don’t need to see online. So having a phone and text message, the old sort of brick phone as they call them, I think that’s fine.”
