Kathy Griffin Has Been in Age Gap Relationships Before
By now, everyone knows that Kathy Griffin “accidentally” fell in love with a man more than 40 years younger than her. The now-65-year-old described the experience as affirming, but insisted it couldn’t last because of the couple’s age gap. While the age-gap relationship is certainly shocking, it’s actually not Griffin’s first one. The famed comedian has dated several men significantly younger than her.
Kathy Griffin was married to a man 10 years younger than her
In the early 2000s, Kathy Griffin married Matt Moline. Moline, a marketing executive, moved to California to live with Griffin and appear on her show My Life on the D-List. The duo wed in 2001, but Griffin filed for divorce in 2005. She later revealed that Moline had lied to her and was pilfering money from her and her family.
Moline has since moved on. He does not maintain a social media presence and hasn’t tried to stay in the spotlight. What many people forget when discussing Griffin’s early romance is the fact that Moline was several years younger than her, too. While the age gap in Griffin and Moline’s relationship was smaller than in her more recent romances, it was still significant. He is 10 years younger and was about 30 when they married. She was around 40.
Griffin had a brief encounter with Levi Johnston
After ending her relationship with Matt Moline, Griffin decided to keep a low profile for a bit, though she continued to work and remain a public figure. Immediately following the split, she briefly dated Steve Wozniak, who was 10 years her senior, though the romance didn’t last long. In 2010, she started something of a “bit” with Levi Johnston, the teenage father of Bristol Palin’s eldest child.
Griffin took Johnston to the Teen Choice Awards and flirted with him publicly for a bit before things settled down. While it seemed to be purely for publicity, Griffin has referenced “dating” him a few times. He was 19 at the time; she was 50.
Kathy Griffin later connected with Randy Bick
While Griffith’s connection to Johnston might have been for comedic effect, her connection to Randy Bick was not. Griffith and Bick met in 2011 and dated for several years before tying the knot in 2020. While the romance ended in divorce in 2023, he is who Griffith has been with the longest while a public figure.
While Bick is not as young as, say, Johnston or Griffin’s recent romance, he is significantly younger than her. Several sources list Bick’s age as 44 at the time of his divorce from Griffin in 2023. He is 18 years younger than his ex-wife, meaning their relationship also had a significant age gap, though they didn’t openly discuss it at the time.
Griffith did bring up the age difference between herself and Bick in The Cut. She noted that since that romance, she’s been asked out almost exclusively by younger men, and that she enjoys being seen as a “cougar.” While she insists her interest in younger men is different or less problematic than an older man’s interest in a younger woman, not everyone sees it that way. Still, she insists there is “nothing” she can do.
