Katy Perry’s Space Trip Was a Major Dealbreaker for Orlando Bloom, Source Claims
Katy Perry and Orlando Bloom’s relationship has reportedly ended. The couple has been engaged since 2019 and share a daughter, Daisy Bloom. According to some sources, cracks were appearing in their relationship as early as April, when Perry went to space. Bloom reportedly disapproved of the journey.
Orlando Bloom reportedly thought Katy Perry’s space trip was a terrible idea
In April, Perry joined a group of six women, including Jeff Bezos’ fiancée Lauren Sanchez and Gayle King, on a trip to outer space. The trip drew immediate and widespread ridicule. A source told the U.S. Sun that Bloom “did not think going on the mission was a good idea.”
“From day one, Orlando didn’t think going on the Blue Origin mission was a good idea, and knew she would face backlash,” the source said. “He always thought it was a stupid idea and she wouldn’t get anything positive out of it.”
He reportedly felt “frustrated” and “disappointed” with her decision, as he “knew she would get backlash.”
Orlando Bloom and Katy Perry have reportedly ended their years-long engagement
Several months after the trip, sources say Bloom and Perry have ended their relationship. For a while now, reports have surfaced claiming that the couple is in the midst of a rough patch.
“They have been spending more and more time apart,” a source told Us Weekly. “They’ve grown apart and aren’t living the same lives anymore.”
According to another source, “everyone” in the couple’s lives knew they were having problems. Part of this reportedly stemmed from her time away from home as she promoted her new album 143, and embarked on a tour.
“Katy has been very busy working, and they are apart often,” the second source said. “That has caused tension.”
The source added that it didn’t help that the couple, who has been engaged since 2019, hasn’t made any plans for a wedding.
They previously broke up in 2017
Perry and Bloom began dating in 2016 and, one year later, parted ways. They remained friendly after their split, though, and reunited in 2018. In 2019, Bloom proposed.
Perry later spoke about what led to their temporary breakup.
“We weren’t really in it from day one,” she said on the Call Her Daddy podcast. “He was in a way because he had just done a time of celibacy and he had set intentions. I was fresh out of a relationship and I was just like, ‘I can’t do this anymore. I need to swim in a different pond.’”
She said they both had life-changing experiences at a weeklong retreat. Perry eventually initiated their reunion.
“We all have our strengths and then our opportunities for growth. But one of his strengths [is] when I crumble, he can step in and be that anchor,” she said. “That’s amazing because I’m usually just alpha, alpha, you know? I’m like testosterone, testosterone. ‘I got this. I don’t need any help,’ but actually I do need help. I do need a partner.”
