Kendra Caldwell Has Been Arrested; More Charges for Joseph Duggar
It has been a busy week in the world of reality TV, with police investigations, strange plot twists, divorces, and arrests. Now, his and her jail cells are involved. Earlier this week, Joseph Duggar was arrested after he allegedly admitted to molesting a young child back in 2020. While he is awaiting extradition to Florida to answer for those crimes, his wife has checked into the same jail system. Kendra Caldwell was arrested on seemingly unrelated charges. Here is what we know so far.
Kendra Caldwell was arrested for endangering the welfare of a child
Kendra Caldwell, the giggling bride whom Duggar family followers met back in 2017, isn’t laughing anymore. The 27-year-old has been arrested for endangering the welfare of a child. TMZ broke the news. An arrest warrant was issued for the mother of four on March 20, but when police arrived at her residence, she was not home.
They eventually caught up with her, and she was taken into custody. According to the Sherrif’s Department, Kendra was booked into jail just before 5 pm. She is charged with four counts of endangering the welfare of a child and four counts of false imprisonment. While a spokesperson told TMZ that the charges are unrelated to Joseph Duggar’s case in Florida, the same charges have been added to his growing list of legal troubles.
While details remain sparse, given the nature of the arrests, Kendra and Joseph Duggar are parents of four children. Their son, Garrett, was born in 2018. Addison and Brooklyn Duggar followed in 2019 and 2021, respectively. They added one more child, Justus Duggar, to the family in 2022.
Why was Joseph Duggar arrested?
While Joseph Duggar will need to deal with the same child endangerment and false imprisonment charges that his wife will be battling, he has additional, very serious charges to address. Joseph Duggar is facing years behind bars for two counts of lewd and lascivious behavior. He will be moved to Panama City, Florida, to face those charges.
Earlier this week, Joseph was picked up by Tontitown police officers after a 14-year-old girl came forward to accuse him of touching her inappropriately during a family vacation years earlier. According to the teen, who was nine at the time of the incident, Joseph manipulated her underwear, fondled her, and repeatedly tried to get her to sit on his lap. A forensic interview was conducted before an arrest warrant was issued. The victim’s father apparently confronted the reality TV star about the incident. Joseph will be moved to Florida to face the charges as the incident occured in the state.
While a handful of Duggars spoke out about Joseph’s arrest today, news of Kendra’s brush with the law has yet to be addressed by family members.
