Kendra Caldwell’s Arrest Stemmed From a Home Investigation After Joseph Duggar’s Arrest
Critics of the Duggar family long suspected another Duggar family member would end up in a jail cell. It happened, and it happened twice. While another sexual abuse scandal is disappointing and concerning, it’s not exactly a surprise to critics who have followed the family for years. What critics did not expect was that Kendra Caldwell would be one of the family members arrested. Caldwell, 27, was arrested two days after her husband, Joseph Duggar, was charged with lewd and lascivious behavior. While her arrest is not directly related to his alleged sex crime, it came about because of that investigation, claims an insider.
What are Kendra Caldwell and Joseph Duggar being charged with?
Kendra Caldwell was booked into jail on March 20 and released the same day after posting bail. Her mug shot depicts a woman looking deeply unhappy and stressed. The look makes perfect sense. After all, her family life had imploded just two days earlier, and her own arrest was likely largely unexpected. So what are the charges?
Kendra Caldwell is charged with four counts of endangering the welfare of a child and four counts of false imprisonment. The mother of four posted a $1,400 bond to be released from lockup. It appears her mother-in-law, Michelle Duggar, was the one who bailed her out and drove her home. It is unclear where the four kids she shares with Joseph Duggar currently are.
Her husband, Joseph Duggar, was booked into the local jail on March 18 for lewd and lascivious behavior. He is awaiting extradition. The charges against him, stemming from an incident in Florida in 2020 in which he allegedly molested a 9-year-old child, could land the Duggar son in jail for more than 20 years. In addition to the sex crime charge, Joseph Duggar was also hit with the same child endangerment and false imprisonment charges as his wife.
Kendra’s charges stem from a home inspection
Shortly after Kendra Caldwell’s arrest, it was revealed that her charges were not directly related to Joseph Duggar’s very serious Florida charges. Insiders insist that Kendra had absolutely no prior knowledge of the Florida incident and was not involved in any way. Still, her own criminal case is, in part, the result of Joseph’s alleged criminal behavior.
An insider spoke to People about the arrest, revealing that an arrest warrant was issued for Kendra after police descended on the home following Joseph’s arrest. The insider claims a home inspection revealed that the ultra-conservative coupe had exterior door locks on the bedroom doors. Such locks would allow a parent to, theoretically, lock a child inside thier bedroom.
Joseph Duggar and Kendra Caldwell are parents to four children. They have two sons and two daughters. Their eldest child, Garrett, was born in 2018. Their daughters, Addison and Brooklyn, were born in 2019 and 2021, respectively. They quietly welcomed a second son, Justus, sometime in 2022, after they left the spotlight behind.
