Khloé Kardashian and Lamar Odom have a long, complicated history. The former spouses have bounced in and out of each other’s lives several times since separating after just four years of marriage. Khloé ultimately filed for divorce because of Odom’s cheating and substance abuse issues. Even after their split, she had some advice for her former husband; she said she suggested he draw the line at seeking sex at brothels. His recent arrest has fans wondering whether that’s what he was doing in Las Vegas.

Khloé Kardashian once told Lamar Odom to avoid brothels

Lamar Odom’s 2015 near-fatal overdose occurred inside a brothel. The former power forward apparently had a penchant for such establishments. Khloé Kardashian had even once warned him against frequenting such businesses after their split. During an appearance on The Howard Stern Show in 2016, Khloé opened up about Odom’s overdose, what led to their divorce, and his preference for paying for sex.

Kardashian wasn’t against the idea of her ex paying sex workers. In fact, she encouraged Odom to bring escorts back to the privacy of his hotel if he was hellbent on paying for a sexual experience. She asked the former NBA star to promise her he’d never go back to a “disgusting brothel” again. It is unclear if Odom made the promise and how effective he’s been at following his ex’s advice.

Brothels are only legal in certain rural counties in Nevada, though they remain illegal in the state’s major cities. Odom was found unresponsive inside the Love Ranch in Crystal, Nevada. He had spent days in the establishment, partaking in drugs, alcohol, and sex, before he nearly died. Khloé Kardashian paused the divorce to retain the legal power to make medical decisions for him. The ranch has since been demolished.

Lamar’s most recent arrest happened in Las Vegas

Lamar had a scrape with the law back in Los Angeles years ago; now he has some legal trouble in Las Vegas. Over the weekend, Odom was arrested in Las Vegas for suspicion of driving under the influence. According to several outlets, Odom was clocked speeding and driving erratically in the early morning hours of January 17.

Responding officers opted to perform a field sobriety test after a strong odor of marijuana was detected in the car. Odom failed the test. According to TMZ, Odom denied smoking pot while driving, and, instead, tried to blame his passenger. TMZ caught up with the former hoop star on January 20, and he insisted he was commited to his sobriety journey and would be learning from the experience. He didn’t offer further details on the arrest, nor did he reveal who his passenger was.

The arrest has prompted fans to question whether Odom had returned to the brothels that Kardashian was so concerned about. The conclusion makes sense, given Odom’s history. Still, there is no indication that Odom was coming from a brothel or heading to one. It is unclear exactly what he was doing in Las Vegas, though. Odom had resided primarily in Los Angeles until mid-2025, when he was evicted for failing to pay rent. He later said he’d be moving to Killeen, Texas, full-time, but it’s unclear if he ever made the move.
