Kim Kardashian and Kris Jenner are still battling Ray J in court over a defamation lawsuit. The mother-daughter duo alleges that Ray J defamed them when he suggested they would be the next targets of a racketeering investigation. As it turns out, that’s not the only statement the troubled musician made about his ex-girlfriend and her mother that they are taking issue with. Kim and Kris are also denying that they purposefully leaked the sex tape that catapulted the Kardashian family to reality TV stardom. Ray J was also featured in the sex tape, and has claimed Kris and Kim released the recording on purpose multiple times.

Kim Kardashian denies she purposefully leaked her sex tape for financial gain

Kim Kardashian and Kris Jenner are fighting back against Ray J. Months after filing a defamation lawsuit against Kim’s ex-boyfriend, they are finally submitting additional paperwork. According to People, Kim Kardashian addressed Ray J’s continued insistence that she orchestrated the sale of her sex tape to garner publicity for her reality TV show and further fame in a legal declaration.

In a filing obtained by the outlet, Kardashian noted that her ex’s suggestion that she hatched a “plan” with her own mother to release her sex tape is a lie. She insisted that there was no such plan, that the lawsuit was very real, and that she had spent time, money, and effort trying to bat down Ray J’s allegations.

Kris Jenner is calling BS on Ray J’s accusations, too. In a separate court statement, the 70-year-old momager denies having anything to do with the sex tape or its sale. She called Ray J’s allegations “disgusting” and insisted that there was no scenario in which she’d help one of her children peddle a sex tape to the public.

The case is ongoing. Along with the defamation lawsuit, Ray J is also said to be battling significant health issues. The rapper claims a bout of pneumonia left him with heart damage that could kill him. Additional details are not available at this time.

How did the tape get out?

While Ray J has his story about how the tape got out, Kim Kardashian has spun a much different tale over the years. Back in 2003, the couple, then unknowns, made the tape. It remained private for several years. In 2007, Vivid Entertainment, an adult film company, announced plans to release the tape. At the time, the company claimed to have obtained the footage from a third party.

In an attempt to stop the film’s release, Kim Kardashian filed a lawsuit against Vivid Entertainment. Kardashian and Vivid Entertainment settled the lawsuit, with Kardashian receiving a payout. While the settlement amount has never been publicly confirmed, the Associated Press has reported that Kardashian received around $5 million for the tape.

The identity of the person who sold the tape to Vivid Entertainment has never been made public, although the company has insisted that the seller had “ownership” of the content. It has long been speculated that Ray J sold the tape to the company, though he insists Kardashian orchestrated the entire ordeal. It seems like that, at this point, we’ll never know what actually happened.
