Kim Kardashian Gets Even More Ridicule After Jeff Bezos’ Washington Post’s Op-Ed About Her
When Kim Kardashian announced she failed the bar exam this year, people took the opportunity to mock her. The reality star has been open about her journey to becoming a lawyer and her struggles along the way. A recent opinion piece in The Washington Post defended Kardashian and criticized the bar exam itself. As Jeff Bezos, a Kardashian family friend, owns the paper, many people have responded with increased ridicule.
Kim Kardashian recently failed the bar exam
In 2021, Kardashian passed the “baby bar,” a test signaling the completion of the first year of law study for students taking unaccredited classes, on her fourth try. She took the bar exam for the first time this year, and recently told fans that she failed.
“Six years into this law journey, and I’m still all in until I pass the bar,” she wrote in a post on her Instagram Story. “No shortcuts, no giving up — just more studying and even more determination.”
Kardashian said she came close to passing the exam and will continue to try.
“Falling short isn’t failure — it’s fuel,” she wrote. “I was so close to passing the exam and that only motivates me even more.”
People are mocking an article about Kim Kardashian taking the bar exam
A recent op-ed in the Washington Post titled, “Actually, the bar exam failed Kim Kardashian,” defended the aspiring lawyer. In it, Max Raskin, a fellow and adjunct professor of law at New York University School of Law, argued that Kardashian’s failure was an “indictment of the bar.” People were not happy with the piece.
“She failed because she didn’t actually attend law school, study, or try,” wrote one Reddit user. “She found out you can’t just buy the results you want. This is disgusting and pathetic of them to write.”
Frustrated people expressed their belief that it’s a good thing the bar is difficult.
“The bar isn’t supposed to be vibes based,” wrote one person. “If you’re handling people’s lives, the filter needs to be tough.”
Many people pointed to the fact that Kardashian admitted to using ChatGPT to study for the exam. They believe this could have led to her failure.
“She failed the bar because she used a famously incorrect AI chatbot as a study aid instead of the multitude of absolutely correct aids that she could certainly have afforded to pay for,” wrote another person. “That’s such a poor level of decision-making that I’d be worried about the quality standards of the exam if she had passed.”
People also noted that Kardashian’s wealth and resources should have given her an advantage on the test.
“This fact that this article is not satire is wild,” wrote one person. “If one person on earth should have passed the bar, it should be the person with as many resources as Kim. Nobody (NOBODY) is in a better position with time, money, resources and access to top-tier preparation.”
A number of people also speculated that Kardashian’s friendship with Bezos could have led to the piece.
She said she wants to be a lawyer full-time
Before learning the results of her exam, Kardashian confidently said she would be qualified as a lawyer in two weeks. She noted that she wanted to step away from her role as a public figure to practice law full-time.
“I would be just as happy being an attorney full time,” she said, per People. “The journey just really opened up my eyes so much. It gets overwhelming because there’s so much to be done.”
Her recent failure will likely push back her plans, though she said she still intends to work as an attorney.
