King Charles’ Former Assistant Shares Why the Monarch Will Still Send Meghan a Birthday Gift Despite Family Rift
Something as simple as birthday wishes among royals have become complicated ever since Prince Harry and Meghan Markle stepped down from their roles within the family. The first few years that followed the Sussexes’ exit, people checked social media to see if the working royals would still acknowledge the duke and duchess on their birthdays, and for a while they did.
In January 2025, the former Suits star returned to Instagram but thus far has never mentioned any of her in-laws on their birthday. That seems to be the theme between all parties now. But someone who used to work for King Charles says that despite their estrangement and no public wishes, the monarch will still send his daughter-in-law a gift for her birthday.

Why King Charles’ former aide says Meghan will receive a gift from her father-in-law
Grant Harrold was King Charles’ butler for seven years. During his time working for the now-monarch, his duties included those of valet, housekeeper, house manager, and driver as well. Harrold also looked after Prince William and Prince Harry whenever the brothers were staying at Highgrove House. Harrold explained exactly why he believes his former boss will send Meghan a present on her birthday.
Speaking on behalf of Heart Bingo, Harrold told Showbiz Cheat Sheet: “As far as the royal family congratulating or wishing a happy birthday, I believe the king and queen will wish her a happy birthday … I still think gifts do get exchanged, because the thing with the royal family is that when it comes to politeness and manners, they are the top of the game, so I still think they will still honor it. That’s my feeling.”
Harrold also shared his thoughts on what Harry might give his wife for her birthday, saying: “He’s quite generous. I think he’ll go down the route of buying her jewelry or taking her away on holiday. I’m sure it will be something extra special.
“The royal family are famous for quirky fun presents, so who knows, maybe he might get her a piece of land on the moon. Or he might get her a title as a bit of a joke, you can get these Highland titles — so he may get something a little bit quirky, a little bit fun. The royals normally try to give each other things that are a little bit different, the sort of things money can’t buy.”
What a psychic sees ahead for Meghan’s 44th year
Inbaal Honigman is a celebrity psychic astrologer who has been reading Tarot since the ’90s. “The upcoming year in Meghan’s professional life will be a time of planning and organizing, rather than a year of seeing results,” Honigman told Showbiz Cheat Sheet via Spin Genie. “There will be offers, contracts, and opportunities handed to the actress, but we won’t see a lot of launches and hardback covers for another 11 months.
“It’s actually towards the end of her 44th year, on June 30, 2026, Jupiter, the planet of wealth and luck moves into the sign of Leo for a year. July 2026 will be a month of announcements for the duchess, and that’s when she’ll be launching a new book, a TV series, and even a cute line of kitchen merch to tie it all together.”
As for Meghan’s personal life, Honigman predicted: “Her 44th year in her personal life starts off a little awkward, because Mercury, the planet of communication, is going retrograde in her sign. Leos rely on being heard and understood, so the Mercury retrograde in Leo causes them to feel misrepresented until Aug. 11. This will improve within the first few days of Meghan’s 44th year, as Mercury goes direct again on the 11th, while still remaining in Leo until Sept. 2.
“During those weeks, it helps encourage better communication for Meghan, especially with the people she loves. Her family relationships will become stronger, and there could even be a reunion with relatives that were sidelined for a while.
