Kody Brown might not have a type when it came to wives, but he certainly has a type when it comes to houses. The Sister Wives star’s latest real estate purchase, a sprawling $2 million home in Flagstaff, was featured on the show, but it looks a bit familiar. The home Kody and Robyn Brown have described as an “opulent” fresh start looks strikingly similar to a house plan Kody had drawn up when he was still allegedly commited to living a polygamist lifestyle. So much for a fresh start.

Kody Brown had house plans drawn up in 2018

Kody Brown and Robyn Brown bought a spacious, $2 million home after unloading their already large Flagstaff property. He insisted that a fresh start was what he was after. Kody said, during a recent episode of Sister Wives, that the death of his Coyote Pass dream meant he needed to start over. The home he shared with Robyn for the last few years was apparently a compromise, anyway. Kody once had big plans.

Back in 2018, Kody had a pretty big dream. He, while still living as a polygamist, envisioned building a massive home for his family. He planned to build it on the acreage they bought as a group. Kody even drew up plans to “pitch” the idea to his wives. His drawing showed a single home with four separate units and one large “family” area in the center. The communal area was a two-story great room complete with a catwalk, exposed beams, and massive windows that would draw natural light into the oversized abode.

The drawings were perfectly lovely, but the pitch didn’t go as planned. Not only were most of his wives completely opposed to the idea, but some were downright angry about the proposal. They eventually settled on building four different houses on the land for each wife. They never moved past the idea phase, though.  The land remained compeltely undeveloped until the day they finally sold it.

The home he purchased in 2024 looks strikingly similar

It has only been seven years since Kody Brown had house plans drawn up, but it feels like several lifetimes ago. A lot has changed since the day he gathered most of his kids and his four wives into one room to present his plan for one giant house. Most of those children no longer speak to him. Three of his four wives have walked away and started new lives. Kody’s personality has taken a massive hit, too, yet his preference in house styles appears to be exactly the same.

The home that Kody and Robyn Brown have called their “opulent” fresh s02 tart has the same vibe and great room as the home Kody had envisioned for his polygamist clan. Real estate photos of the home remain online, even though the house was sold to the Browns several months ago. In one photo, the house’s massive great room, with high ceilings and a catwalk, is prominently displayed. It’s nearly impossible to ignore the fact that the house Kody had designed had the exact same great room layout, complete with the catwalk, massive windows, and high ceilings.

‘Sister Wives’ Confusion: Kody and Robyn Claim They Need a ‘Fresh Start,’ but No One Was Welcome in Their House Anyway

The two spaces are so similar that it is impossible they are just a coincidence. There are other elements that are similar. Still, there is one glaring difference. Kody won’t be filling the house with multiple wives, all of his children, and an army of grandchildren. The couple purchased a lot of space for seemingly no reason.
