As The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills delves deeper into their complicated romance, fans and costars want answers on why the couple hasn’t filed for divorce. Kyle Richard recently revealed that she considered it but still thinks it’s “too scary” to really consider. Umansky hasn’t even thought about it.

Kyle Richards and Mauricio Umansky’s estrangement has been a storyline on The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills for some time now. The longer they remain separated but not divorced, the more confused their fans and costars are becoming about their romance. While we have mostly danced around the topic on the show for several seasons now, Dorit Kemsley finally asked the question we have all been wondering. During a season 15 episode of the beloved Bravo series, Kemsley questioned Richards about why she had not yet filed for divorce.

Richards admitted she had considered filing after seeing Umansky step out with other women, but ultimately decided against it. She admitted that the move would be “scary” and that she was thinking of everyone involved. Kemsley had more questions for Richards, but was rudely interrupted by Umansky’s arrival. Still, she posed the same question to Richards’ estranged husband. Umansky revealed he never actually considered filing for divorce. The admission seemingly shocked Richards.

While both appear opposed to making their split final, fans shouldn’t get their hopes up, either. A reconciliation does not appear to be in the cards.

The lack of divorce hasn’t stopped them from moving on, though

While Kyle Richards has admitted she is too “Scared” to file for divorce, she hasn’t been too scared to date other people. While she’s been mostly discreet with her romances, she insists she’s dated since her split. In fact, Richards admitted during season 15 that she was in love with someone else, but they did not wish to make the relationship public. Richards said the romance ultimately ended because of that.

Mauricio Umansky has been neither shy nor discreet about his dating life. He has dated multiple women, all of whom are much younger than his estranged wife. He has had no problem getting cozy in public. Since he’s been so comfortable with his “ho era,” you’d think he’d be equally comfortable with divorce. Apparently, he isn’t comfortable with it either, although perhaps for a different reason than his estranged wife. The most jaded of viewers have argued that for Umansky it’s about the money, while Richards is leading with her heart.
