Why Lauren Sánchez Didn’t Invite Her Own Mother to Her and Jeff Bezos’ Wedding
Lauren Sánchez married Jeff Bezos in what was dubbed the “wedding of the year.”
The festivities leading up to the big day took place over three days in June in Venice, Italy. The events were star-studded affairs with plenty of celebrity guests in attendance including Leonardo DiCaprio, Orlando Bloom, Jessica Alba, Sydney Sweeney, Kim Kardashian, Kris Jenner, Kylie Jenner, Kendall Jenner, Ellie Goulding, Tom Brady, Usher and Jenn Goicoechea, Bill Gates, Tommy Hilfiger, Oprah Winfrey, and Gayle King.
However, some of Lauren’s family members, including her mother, Eleanor, were noticeably absent. What caused Eleanor to miss her daughter’s big day? Well, turns out she wasn’t invited. Here’s more on that and who else from Lauren’s family wasn’t welcome at the wedding.
Who are Lauren Sánchez’s parents?
Lauren was born on Dec. 19, 1969, in Albuquerque, New Mexico, to Eleanor and Ray Sánchez. Her father was a pilot, flight instructor, and mechanic. Her mom worked as a city council clerk in Albuquerque and as an assistant deputy mayor in Los Angeles.
Eleanor and Ray divorced when Lauren was 7 years old.
Lauren has three siblings: a sister, Elena, and two brothers, Paul and Michael.
“Our parents were successful and wealthy,” Michael told The Times. The publication added that “Eleanor, who had grown up in Los Angeles, was known for her poise and style. Today, she still owns a number of small properties in Albuquerque. Her tenants say she is a good landlord and glamorous. She drops in once a year, wearing enormous sunglasses. And they send their checks to an address in Beverly Hills, zip code 90210.”
Along with Eleanor, Michael did not receive an invitation to Lauren’s wedding.
Why Lauren’s mother, Eleanor, wasn’t invited to her daughter’s wedding
Paul and Elena were on hand when their sister married the Amazon founder. So why weren’t Michael and Lauren’s mother there for the big day?
Well, Lauren has been estranged from Michael for years. That stems from when the press reported on Lauren and Bezos’ affair in 2019 and the National Enquirer published explicit text messages between the pair while they were married to other people.
Michael made cryptic comments about being the source of the leak before totally denying it. He later sued Bezos for defamation, as fingers were pointed at him.
In response to her brother’s lawsuit, Lauren said: “He secretly provided my most personal information to The National Enquirer — a deep and unforgivable betrayal.”
Eleanor then stepped in and tried to set up a meeting with her daughter to “discuss” the situation. But the damage was already done. Given how betrayed she felt, Lauren declined and has not spoken to her mother since.
As The Times reported, “Michael Sánchez says he has not seen his sister since 2019 and not spoken to her since 2020, the legal battle over the leaking of the affair story creating an irreparable fissure. He says their mother, Eleanor, asked to meet with her to ‘discuss’ the situation, and the two have not spoken since. Neither he nor their mother [were] invited to the wedding.”
