Comedian Nikki Glaser hosted the 83rd Golden Globe Awards and took some shots at quite a few of the celebrities in attendance, including Leonardo DiCaprio.

Glaser poked fun at the One Battle After Another actor noting several of his accomplishments and saying he did “all of that before your girlfriend turned 30.” DiCaprio’s current partner, supermodel Vittoria Ceretti, is 27. The two have been together since 2023, but she did not attend the award ceremony with him.

The host also joked about how private the Titanic star is about his personal life and said that the “most in-depth interview you’ve ever given was in Teen Beat Magazine in 1991.” She then asked him about pasta, and fans immediately took to the internet to find out just what she was referring to.

What an expert says DiCaprio proved by ‘behaving in an exaggerated manner’

Darren Stanton is a body language and behavioral expert with a degree in psychology. He previously worked as a police officer and used his expertise to uncover the truth when interviewing hundreds of suspects. Stanton later moved into media and TV as a consultant and earned the title “Human Lie Detector.”

He analyzed DiCaprio’s demeanor after Glaser joked about him and pointed out how the Oscar winner was seen joking around himself with fellow attendees.

Speaking on behalf of Covers, Stanton told Showbiz Cheat Sheet, “The viral clip featuring Leo is quite telling. While we know he has a good sense of humour, he appears to be mimicking someone or trying to make others laugh by behaving in an exaggerated manner.

“We often see Leo being quite serious and professional, so this definitely shows a different side of him. The clip proves that he’s relaxed, willing to joke around, and not take himself too seriously, even though he’s aware the camera is recording.”

Did DiCaprio really say pasta is his favorite food?

As for the pasta joke, Glaser directed people to check out the decades-old Teen Beat Magazine interview she referenced.

“Look it up, that’s real!” she said for everyone watching the awards show, and many were up for the challenge.

Once they found it, the questionnaire DiCaprio filled out about his favorite things began popping up all over social media.

It then made sense why Glaser asked, “Is your favorite food still ‘pasta, pasta, and more pasta?'” to which he mouthed the word “Yes!” while giving her a big thumbs up.

And yes, DiCaprio really did list “pasta, pasta, and more pasta” as his favorite foods.

Back in 1991, the since-closed publication Teen Beat ran a Q&A-style interview with a then-17-year-old DiCaprio. He shared that his favorite book at the time was Lord of the Flies, his favorite movies were Parenthood and One Flew Over the Cuckoo’s Nest, his favorite actor is Jack Nicholson, his favorite actress is Meg Ryan, and yes, his favorite food is “pasta, pasta, and more pasta.”

Showbiz Cheat Sheet acknowledges that conditions and cultures can impact body language and is sensitive to all backgrounds.
