Millie Bobby Brown stepped into the public eye nearly ten years ago as Eleven in Stranger Things. Since then, the actor has tackled new projects and grown quite a bit off-screen. As she prepares for the final season of the Netflix series to air, Brown has moved on with her personal life. Here’s what her life looks like when she isn’t on set.

The actor started a family with Jake Bongiovi

Stranger Things began when Brown was a child. She’s matured quite a bit in the time since the premiere. In 2024, she married Jake Bongiovi, the son of Jon Bon Jovi, in a private ceremony. She said she wanted to keep parts of her life out of view from the public.

“I think probably drawing the curtains, just because there are only so many moments in life that you get only once,” she told Women’s Wear Daily. “And to have everyone’s opinions and eyes looking at that just feels unnatural to me. So I feel it’s important to keep those things, those small precious moments in life, really close to your chest.”

One year after their wedding, the couple revealed that they adopted a baby daughter.

“This summer, we welcomed our sweet baby girl through adoption,” they wrote in an Instagram post. “We are beyond excited to embark on this beautiful next chapter of parenthood in both peace and privacy.”

While the couple hasn’t shared much about their daughter, Brown previously said she wanted to be a young mother. She added that her husband wholly supported this dream. While at this point she only has one child, she looks forward to having a big family.

“I really want a family. I really want a big family,” she said on the Smartless podcast, adding, “I’m one of four. [Jake is] one of four.”

Millie Bobby Brown runs a farm on her breaks from playing Eleven

Brown and Bongiovi have plenty of space for a growing family. The couple bought a farm in Georgia where they run an animal rescue organization called Joey’s Friends. She said she loves her quiet, rural life.

“I’m not doing it for the aesthetic,” she told Vanity Fair. “I’m doing it because I love it. There are maybe some trad wives out there doing it because it seems wholesome, but it is not. If you’re not picking up horse s*** or washing a cow with your bare hands, then that life is not made for you. At all.”

When she’s not on set, Brown spends time with the animals on their farm. She has been taking classes in veterinary medicine to better care for them.

“I’m able to treat wounds, take their pulse, moderate blood pressure, things like that. I do all their medical records myself,” she said. “Now I just have to do my externship, which is like sitting in on surgeries and things like that. Adoption campaigns [on social media] are wonderful temporarily, but you really have to get in there and do the work to make a difference.”

Millie Bobby Brown shared what it felt like to move on from her longtime character, Eleven

Brown has acted in a number of projects outside of Stranger Things, but the show has been a part of her life since childhood. She said moving on from the character was emotional.

“I was on set, and I was like, ‘Well, I have one more day left.’ And I started crying,” she said. “I don’t actually like to cry at work. I’m a really emotional person, but I try to stay super strong. It made me feel so uncomfortable. Jake was like, ‘It’s good, you have to get it out!’ and I just started welling up.”
