Members of the royal family made their appearance on the Buckingham Palace balcony as they marked King Charles‘ official birthday during the 2025 Trooping the Colour.

Missing from the celebration was the king’s youngest son, Prince Harry, who moved to America with his wife, Meghan Markle, five years earlier. But the Duke of Sussex wasn’t far from the monarch’s mind, according to a lip-reading expert.

Here’s more on what the king appeared to say to Queen Camilla about Harry as they stood on the balcony waiting for the flypast.

Lip-reading expert reveals what King Charles said to Camilla about Prince Harry

Of course since he is no longer a working royal and currently estranged from his family, Prince Harry did not attend his father’s birthday celebration. However, something to do with him seems to have occurred behind the scenes just before the royals walked out onto the famous balcony because the king was discussing it with Camilla as they stood high above the crowds where no one could hear them.

Now, a lip reader has analyzed the footage to gauge what the two were saying to each other.

Nicola Hickling is a lip-reading expert and the founder of LipReader, a company specializing in lipreading and expert witness reports. Hickling has spearheaded the development of innovative technologies and services that empower individuals with hearing impairments. She has also appeared in the likes of the Daily Mail, Page Six, Newsweek, and more.

Speaking on behalf of Fruity King, Hickling shared with Showbiz Cheat Sheet that after the couple walked out onto the balcony, Charles checked to make sure his wife was OK, saying, “Have you got enough room?” Then, they began talking about being sick of Harry’s moaning and an “issue” the duke brought up.

According to Hickling, Charles said, “Wave and smile so that we can keep talking.” Camilla agreed, “Yes. What else did he want?”

“He keeps dragging it all up, there seems to be another issue right now,” Charles responded.

Camilla then asked: “What are you going to do about it?” The king told her: “We will tackle it sooner or later. It’s all very messy and I will talk to Harry. That’ll be fun.”

“Oh yes, problematic,” she replied.

Some believe the last time Harry spoke about the royals killed any chance of a reconciliation

With everything that’s happened between Harry and his family over the years, it was hard to see a reconciliation being reached before. But after the prince’s explosive BBC interview following his unsuccessful attempt to have the courts reinstate his private security, it seems impossible now.

Just like in his past interviews, the Duke of Sussex took verbal jabs at his family and put the blame for things not going his way on them. Harry told the BBC: “I can only come to the U.K. safely if I’m invited. There is a lot of control and ability in my father’s hands. Ultimately, this whole thing could be resolved through him, not necessarily by intervening but by stepping aside and letting the experts do what is necessary.”

After getting his shots in, Harry said he didn’t know how long his father had left and claimed he wanted to reconcile.

The Sunday Times spoke to a friend of the king’s who insisted: “Harry just sees conspiracy every time a decision doesn’t go in his direction. He is like a gambler in a casino who can’t walk away — he just doubles down. Even when he speaks of reconciliation, it is laced with threats and anger.

“It’s not that the king won’t speak to him — it’s that he can’t. How can you have a private and delicate conversation when you know it is going to end up on a news special within hours? Perhaps if he tried to earn rather than demand a reconciliation, things might go a little better for him. It’s just very tragic.”
