Lip Reader Reveals Prince Andrew’s Comments to a ‘Furious’ Prince William Just Before Donald Trump’s State Visit
Hours before Prince William and the Princess of Wales (formerly known as Kate Middleton) welcomed U.S. President Donald Trump and First Lady Melania Trump to the U.K. for the couple’s second state visit, they, along with the rest of the family, attended a funeral service.
The royals all gathered for the Duchess of Kent’s Requiem Mass at Westminster Cathedral in London on Sept. 16, 2025. Cameras captured a not-so-happy-looking Prince of Wales stuck next to his uncle, Prince Andrew. And when the disgraced Duke of York tried talking to William, the future king looked irritated.
Now, a lip-reading specialist is sharing what Andrew said to his nephew, which William didn’t even dignify with a response.
Professional lip reader Jeremy Freeman told Express that the duke remarked: “We had a lovely time in those days, didn’t we … I remember those days.”
But Prince William barely acknowledged Prince Andrew, only giving a slight nod and didn’t say anything back. He did, however, turn to Princess Anne’s husband and engaged in a conversation with him.
Royal author Andrew Lownie told The Mirror that the Prince of Wales was “furious” at being ambushed by his uncle at the service.
“He has been at pains to distance himself from his uncle and not be photographed with him,” Lownie explained. “He believes his father has not dealt with him with sufficient firmness and that Andrew — and Sarah Ferguson — have done much to undermine the good work of other members of the royal family.”
