Bravo has been jockeying hard for Lisa Ann Walter to join their team. The Abbott Elementary star recently revealed the insane number of times she’s been approached by Bravo executives about appearing on The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills. Despite insisting she’s not against reality TV, it simply is not for her — and her reasoning is pretty funny. Walter insists there is no hate for RHOBH, but her disinterest in appearing on reality TV extends beyond the Bravo network and its Housewives-centric series.

Lisa Ann Walter turned down ‘RHOBH’ because she’s not a housewife

Earlier this month, Lisa Ann Walter sat down with Betches Media for a game of “How Online Are You?” During the game, Walter made a big admission. The Abbott Elementary star revealed that she has been approached about appearing on RHOBH a staggering five times. She insists she’s turned down network executives each time with the same, seemingly rational reason.

Walter says she turned down the show because she’s simply not qualified. She reasoned that she’s not a “housewife.” In fact, she insists she’s not even a wife. When she received additional pushback, Walter added that she neither owns a house nor is she a Beverly Hills resident, making her inclusion in the series a bit strange. She joked that the only part of the title she has is “real.”

It’s nothing personal, insists Walter. She doesn’t have anything against reality TV and even enjoys watching some reality series in her downtime. Still, she’s not interested in appearing on one. Walter has also turned down an invitation to join Dancing with the Stars, according to several sources.

Lisa Ann Walter’s biggest roles

Lisa Ann Walter might be so quick to turn down RHOBH because her career has been illustrious enough without reality TV. The 62-year-old actress and comedian’s first breakout role came in 1998 with a scene-stealing turn in the beloved Disney remake of The Parent Trap. Walter played Chessy, the family’s house manager. The role made her instantly recognizable and endeared her to a generation of viewers.

In the years that followed, Walter worked steadily in television and film. A versatile comedic performer, Walter amassed several TV and film credits while continuing to work steadily as a stand-up comedian. More recently, she has appeared on Abbott Elementary as Melissa Schemmenti, a beloved teacher. The role earned her a Screen Actors Guild award. She has since landed her own comedy special on Hulu.

Things are looking good for Walter, even if she snubbed the powers that be at Bravo.
