Lisa Rinna Admitted She Insulted the Way Lisa Vanderpump Smelled 

When Lisa Rinna joined The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills, she looked up to Lisa Vanderpump. Vanderpump was an OG cast member and reached out to Rinna nearly every day as they filmed. Eventually, though, Rinna began to feel that Vanderpump was attempting to manipulate her. At that point, Rinna said she started doing whatever she could to get under her co-star’s skin. She admitted to insulting the way Vanderpump smelled.

Rinna knew Vanderpump before she joined the cast of RHOBH. As a result, they had a friendly relationship during Rinna’s first season on the show. After a few seasons, though, Rinna began to see Vanderpump as coldly calculating.

“Vanderpump’s an expert at manipulation — it’s why she makes such a good producer on her own show — she knows how to use other people like chess pieces,” she wrote in her book You Better Believe I’m Gonna Talk About It (via InStyle). “She spends every waking hour figuring out her next move.”

Once Rinna began to view Vanderpump that way, she admitted she tried to do whatever she could to undercut her co-star. This included making digs about the way she smelled.

“Once our power dynamic evened out and I saw her game plan with clear eyes, she lost control of me, and she never got it back,” she said. “I didn’t allow it. I tried to find ways to get under her skin, like saying she smelled like Chardonnay, cigarettes, and mothballs.”

Rinna admitted she is no longer on speaking terms with Vanderpump.
