Lisa Rinna Said Lisa Vanderpump Is 1 of the ‘Greatest’ Housewives of All Time
Lisa Rinna and Lisa Vanderpump are not on good terms. Rinna described Vanderpump as manipulative and admitted that she no longer speaks to her former castmate. Despite this, she thinks Vanderpump ranks amongst the best Housewives of all time. She shared why she thinks Vanderpump was such a standout.
Lisa Rinna said Lisa Vanderpump was a good Housewife
Rinna spent multiple seasons filming with Vanderpump on The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills. While they began on good terms, Rinna said she started to view Vanderpump as a master manipulator.
“Vanderpump’s an expert at manipulation — it’s why she makes such a good producer on her own show — she knows how to use other people like chess pieces,” Rinna wrote in her memoir You Better Believe I’m Gonna Talk About It (via InStyle), adding, “She spends every waking hour figuring out her next move. She’s not spontaneous. She has a plan going on, but you don’t know that because she’s quite good at keeping it hidden.”
While these traits didn’t make Rinna want to be Vanderpump’s friend, she acknowledged that they made her a strong presence on reality television.
“I think Lisa Vanderpump is the Bobby Fischer of Housewives, one of the greatest of all time,” she wrote. “She knew how to play the game better than anyone.”
While Vanderpump left RHOBH in Season 9, she remains a fixture on Vanderpump Rules.
Lisa Rinna believed Lisa Vanderpump manipulated her
Rinna believed Vanderpump attempted to manipulate her from the moment she joined the cast of RHOBH.
“Vanderpump’s very smart,” she wrote. “When I first came on the show, she called me every single morning. I was so gullible, I actually thought she cared about me. While I was drinking my first cup of coffee and prattling on about my day’s boring errands, she was molding me like clay into a henchwoman to do her bidding. Nice phone calls were all it took, and I fell in line. I was ready and willing to do all of Vanderpump’s dirty work.”
When she began to think Vanderpump was manipulating her, Rinna said their relationship soured. She started trying to get under Vanderpump’s skin.
“Once our power dynamic evened out and I saw her game plan with clear eyes, she lost control of me, and she never got it back,” she wrote. “I didn’t allow it.”
Another former Housewife has also described her as manipulative
Rinna is not the only former RHOBH star who has described Vanderpump as manipulative. Brandi Glanville once said she thought Vanderpump tried to ruin her life.
“My truth about LVP Is that she tried to ruin my life!” she wrote on X (formerly Twitter). “She had employees trash my wine, she gave ultimatums on the show it was either her or me, she conveniently lost her memory during my lawsuit which cost me all of my savings. So yes she is my own personal devil.”
As with Rinna, Vanderpump once had a friendly relationship with Glanville.
