Olivia Rodrigo and Louis Partridge were one of Gen-Z’s favorite celebrity couples, but sources say the pair has ended things. Neither Rodrigo nor Partridge has commented on their alleged breakup, but this is not surprising. They’ve kept their two-year relationship private. Several months before their rumored split, Partridge spoke about the importance of keeping his relationship under the radar.

While many paparazzi photos of Partridge and Rodrigo exist, they’ve largely kept quiet about their romance. This fall, Partridge spoke about the importance of keeping his personal life private after photos of the couple at Wimbledon went viral.

“I did see a lot of photos from that, it felt quite public,” he told Esquire. “Olivia and I choose, or have been choosing, to not be so public. Obviously, it has been quite a big summer for her with Glastonbury, but there’s a sanctity to being private.”

Still, Partridge believed that their levels of fame helped the relationship in some ways. There would always be attention on their relationship, but they could weather it together.

“I think so, yeah, to not blow it out of proportion or not have to explain it or have someone understand it,” he said, adding, “I just have no doubt that we’re both in a relationship for the right reason, for example. I’m sure that’s something you have to think about when you reach a certain level of success. It’s nice to know that we can go to things together, and it’s not the maddest thing in the world that you’re sitting opposite who knows what. You’ve got a friend in those times.”

Partridge and Rodrigo first sparked dating rumors in 2023, after a fan spotted them out together on Halloween. That winter, Partridge attended one of Rodrigo’s concerts with her friends. In early 2024, they all but confirmed their relationship when they kissed at a gas station in New York. Rodrigo later released the song “So American,” presumably about Partridge.

Even in the earlier stages of their relationship, Partridge spoke about his desire for his romance to be private. 

“Dating probably shouldn’t be done in the public eye,” he told British Vogue in early 2024. “There’s enough going on between two people. You don’t need the voices of thousands of others in your head. I think she’s got it a lot worse than I have. I can be a bit of a normal person. She’s got tons and tons of eyes on her case.”

The couple has reportedly ended their relationship

Sources are now reporting that after two years of dating, Rodrigo and Partridge have parted ways. 

“They made such a lovely couple so people who know them were shocked when they heard,” a source told the U.S. Sun. “It’s not been the easiest few weeks for them and they decided it’s better to be apart for now.”

The source added that Rodrigo got emotional about the split at a holiday party thrown by Lily Allen.
