Carey has had relationships with a few famous men, including Derek Jeter, Eminem, and Luis Miguel. She has also been married and engaged a few times.

Mariah Carey’s current relationship
Since late 2024, Carey and fellow musician Anderson .Paak have been rumored to be dating after they were spotted together holding hands. While neither has confirmed if they are in a romantic relationship, Anderson did confirm that he and the “We Belong Together” songbird collaborated on a project for her Here For It All album.
Carey’s last public relationship was with her former backup dancer Brian Tanaka. The two were together for seven years before calling it quits.
In 2023, Tanka took to Instagram and shared that he and the “Dreamlover” artist had split, writing: “With mixed emotions, I share this personal update regarding my amicable separation from Mariah Carey after seven extraordinary years together. Our decision to embark on different paths is mutual, and as we navigate these separate journeys, we do so with profound respect and an overwhelming sense of gratitude for the invaluable time we’ve shared. The memories we’ve created and the artistic collaborations are etched in my heart forever.”
How many times Carey has been engaged and married
Prior to her most recent relationships, Carey was married twice and engaged three times.
Her first marriage was to Tommy Mottola, who had been the head of Columbia Records when she was just starting out in the music business. The two said “I do” in 1993. However, the singer-songwriter later revealed that during their marriage, Mottola had an excessive amount of “control” over her life, and she felt like a prisoner. In her Meaning of Mariah memoir, she wrote: “I couldn’t talk to anyone that wasn’t under Tommy’s control. I couldn’t go out or do anything with anybody. I couldn’t move freely in my own house.”
The former music executive did admit that his conduct when they were together was “absolutely wrong and inappropriate.” They divorced in 1998.
Carey walked down the aisle for the second time with Nick Cannon. The two met on the set of her music video for the song “Bye Bye” in 2008. They tied the knot that same year and in 2011, welcomed their twins, Moroccan and Monroe.
Cannon and Carey never publicly commented on what led to their 2015 divorce, and the two maintained a good relationship over the years, co-parenting their children.
After Cannon, the “Always Be My Baby” hitmaker started dating Australian billionaire James Packer. They got engaged in January 2016 when the businessman proposed with a massive 35-carat diamond ring worth an estimated $8 million.
They never made it to the altar though and called off their engagement in October 2016. As per an agreement between them, it was decided that Carey would keep her engagement ring.
