Did Marc Anthony and Jada Pinkett Smith Have an Affair When They Were Co-Stars?

Marc Anthony and Jada Pinkett Smith worked together several years back when they both starred on the TNT medical drama Hawthorne. Although the show went off the air in 2011, a story about the two having a romantic relationship off-screen is gaining traction again.

Anthony and Pinkett Smith’s names have both been in the news recently. The Latin singer was mentioned in Brooklyn Beckham’s bombshell statement about his feud with his parents, while the actress made a rare appearance with Will Smith, whom she’s separated from, at Paris Fashion Week.

Now that the former co-stars are making headlines again, some are curious about whether the reports that they had an affair are true.

For those who don’t know, when Anthony and Jennifer Lopez announced their divorce in 2011, the chatter began that one reason for their split was because the “I Need to Know” artist had gotten way too cozy with Pinkett Smith.

An insider who worked on the show came forward telling Us Weekly that Pinkett Smith and Anthony had a romantic relationship when cameras weren’t rolling as well, and were often seen touching and seemed to be in their own little world. The source also said that they would spend time alone together in Anthony’s trailer and constantly communicated through talking and texting.

With the gossip swirling in the tabloids, Pinkett Smith’s publicist released a statement denying the affair rumors, saying, “Everything about Jada and Marc Anthony is false.” TMZ also spoke with Hawthorne crewmembers who refuted the claims of sparks flying between Anthony and Pinkett Smith on set.

Despite that, another report came out that put Anthony at Pinkett Smith’s home and claimed that Will Smith walked in on them together and left the house crying.

According to In Touch Weekly, Will Smith had become increasingly suspicious that his wife was having an affair with Anthony and secretly flew home when she thought he was away shooting a movie. The publication goes on to claim that the Men in Black star walked in the house and found them together before leaving the house in tears.

Reps for the Smiths called that story inaccurate. However, a source close to them admitted that Anthony had been at the Pinkett Smith’s home, but that the date was incorrect. He was there in April, not August and he only went there to look at a DVD, nothing more.

Jada Pinkett Smith and Will Smith have been living separately since 2016, but insist they have no plans to legally divorce.

As fans know, their marriage has always been unconventional, and in 2020, Pinkett Smith opened up about what she described as an “entanglement” with singer August Alsina during their marriage. Some are now wondering if the Smiths are open and honest with each other and free to have other partners, why wouldn’t Pinkett Smith admit to a romance with Anthony? Therefore, most don’t believe anything happened.

As for Anthony, he is married to former Miss Universe Paraguay Nadia Ferreira. The couple announced on Jan. 28, 2026, that they are expecting their second child together.
