During an interview at the Grammys, Carey was asked for her thoughts on Jennifer Lopez, to which she replied, “I don’t know her.” Over the years, she’s been asked about the comment, but she always insists that her reaction was genuine and not petty.
She did little to convince fans that she wasn’t being petty. Just last year, she doubled down on her lack of knowledge of Lopez. During an appearance on Watch What Happens Live with Andy Cohen, she was once again asked about Lopez, and stated, “How would I suddenly know?” Lopez, for her part, insists that she has met Mariah Carey many times.
The songstress implied that her engagement never mattered
Mariah Carey has had several high-profile romances over the years, but there are a few she’d like to forget. There is even a broken engagement that she claims never mattered. Mariah Carey famously left her ex-fiance, James Packer, out of her book; in a truly petty moment, she stated that, “If it was a relationship that mattered, it’s in the book. If not, it didn’t occur.” The statement implies her romance with Packer was inconsequential.
While he has stayed mostly quiet since the 2016 split, she has not. Carey revealed that she and Packer didn’t have a physical relationship and later sued him for $50 million as an “inconvenience fee.” Packer is an Australian billionaire.
Mariah Carey and Eminem have been feuding for decades
Mariah Carey has had a longstanding beef with Eminem. He’s claimed they briefly dated; she denies it. At one point, it was suggested that the drama began when Eminem asked Mariah Carey to play his mom in 8 Mile, which offended the iconic singer.
