Mary Cosby Still Signed on for Season 7 of ‘the Real Housewives of Salt Lake City’
Bravo has paused production on The Real Housewives of Salt Lake City for the time being. The pause, however, is not the same as when the network put The Real Housewives of New Jersey and The Real Housewives of New York City on ice. Production has paused while Mary Cosby deals with the sudden death of her 23-year-old son, Robert Cosby Jr. When cameras start rolling again, though, Cosby will be in front of them, claims an insider. This is what we know so far.
Mary Cosby will appear on season 7 of ‘The Real Housewives of Salt Lake City’ despite her son’s death
Season 7 of The Real Housewives of Salt Lake City is on a brief pause while Mary Cosby addresses her son’s sudden and tragic death. While it’s unclear when production will actually begin, an insider insists Mary Cosby is planning to appear. An insider speaking to TMZ revealed that Cosby is not planning to take a step back from the show in the wake of the tragedy. Shortly after learning of the 20-something’s death, most fans theorized that she would take a break. Cosby has previously stepped away from public life.
According to the source, Bravo isn’t putting any pressure on Cosby and will film her as she sees fit. It is unclear if the season will address Robert Cosby Jr.’s death or if they’ll opt to avoid the topic. Filming was slated to begin this week. Bravo pulled back on the plan when they were notified of the younger Cosby’s death. No filming start date has been announced.
How did Robert Cosby Jr. die?
Robert Cosby Jr. died on February 23 at the age of 23. The Utah native’s official cause of death has not been released, but paramedics were dispatched to the Cosby home for a suspected overdose. According to TMZ, Narcan was administered to Cosby as a life-saving attempt, but it was unsuccessful. He was pronounced dead at the scene, and a death investigation was launched.
Details of the night that Cosby Jr. died remain a bit murky, but his substance abuse struggles were not a secret. The Cosbys addressed Robert’s battle with addiction on The Real Housewives of Salt Lake City. At the end of season 5, he even agreed to enter rehab. His sobriety was short-lived, and the season 6 reunion found Mary Cosby revealing that her son was in jail after violating an order of protection. The younger Cosby’s wife filed for divorce in November. The reunion aired in January. It had been filmed the month before.
