In case you haven’t heard the news, Prince Harry and Meghan Markle‘s mega deal with Netflix is over. The streaming giant will not be offering the duke and duchess another $100 million contract or any new deal for that matter.

This news comes after the company’s semi-annual report showed that the Sussexes’ last two projects for the platform did not pull in good numbers. Harry’s wife‘s show With Love, Meghan ranked at No. 383 while the prince’s show, Polo, ranked at No. 3,436.

The timing of the pair’s lost deal is also interesting since they are reportedly having financial issues and Harry’s senior aides recently met with one of King Charles‘ reps to discuss “peace talks.”

Here’s what some experts are saying about the Duke and Duchess of Sussex trying to get back into the royal fold now to benefit themselves.

Commentator says Meghan wants ‘peace talks’ to repair her reputation

Earlier this month, Prince Harry and Meghan’s chief communications officer, Meredith Maines, and Liam Maguire, who runs the Sussexes’ U.K. public relations team, met with the king’s communications secretary, Tobyn Andreae, in London to discuss a possible “peace summit.” As soon as the public heard about the aides agreeing to have such a meeting amongst themselves, some began to think that Meghan was behind it because she would benefit from a reconciliation.

According to author and former royal correspondent for the Times, Valentine Low, the “peace talks” could really help the Suits alum.

He told The Sun: “There’s also the interesting question, perhaps quite cynically, if they reconcile and the relationship with the royal family becomes one of warmth. I think it will only do Meghan’s reputation something good and help her expand brand Meghan.”

Broadcaster Sarah Hewson chimed in, saying that “Meghan is someone with a game plan. Nothing happens by accident and I think Harry relies on Meghan for a lot of guidance through life. Meghan’s got her own plans and business. What is Harry’s? He does look lost and isolated by himself in Montecito. His father’s health is certainly a big wake-up call.”

Hewson added, “I think for these talks to happen, Harry will need to speak to his father one-on-one. This will be really important as there is a big trust issue.”

Royal author says Sussexes are hoping for ‘handouts’ now from Harry’s family

Royal biographer Robert Jobson believes Harry and Meghan losing their Netflix deal is the sole reason for them suddenly wanting to make peace and get back in the good graces of King Charles.

Talking on The Sun’s Royal Exclusive show, Jobson said: “Well, the deal was always set about $100 million, wasn’t it? And the talk of that figure sort of blew a lot of people’s minds, but I think that was for productions and things that they’re supposed to have done.

“Where does it leave them? Probably with a bit of a bowl out, looking for some handouts. Maybe that’s why their staff were over here having discussions with the king.”
