Meghan Markle Caused Concern With ‘Unlucky’ Jewelry She Was Seen Wearing at Recent Event
Meghan Markle was one of the celebrities on hand at the 2026 Fifteen Percent Pledge Fundraising Gala. The event was held in Los Angeles on Feb. 7.
For the charity gala, the duchess chose a pink satin strapless custom dress with a black-lined bodice by designer Charles Harbison of Harbison Studio. Prince Harry’s wife accessorized with a black velvet-and-silk shawl draped over her arms, and suede heels by Stuart Weitzman.
There was also plenty of focus on Meghan’s vintage onyx-and-diamond earrings from Maison Mèrenor, as many claim that the precious stone is “unlucky.”
Now, an expert is weighing in about the jewelry the former Suits star wore that is believed to be a source of sorrow and bad luck.
Lauren Bulla is a fashion journalist who has been featured in The Independent, New Wave Magazine, and several other publications. She is also the Fashion Editor of Groupie Magazine, where she provides in-depth coverage of New York, Paris, London, and Copenhagen fashion weeks. She noted that the onyx gemstone is actually said to “ward off negative energies.”
Speaking on behalf of Slots Temple, Bulla told Showbiz Cheat Sheet, “Meghan is known for routinely selecting and wearing jewelry from up-and-coming designers, and her choice of these black onyx drop earrings by Maison Mèrenor is no exception. The earrings feature both diamonds and black onyx, which is a gemstone long believed to ward off negative energies while offering protection to the wearer and those who behold it.
“Black onyx is also associated with inner strength and a grounded sense of self, adding a layer of meaning to the striking design. Meghan’s decision to wear jewelry of this kind reflects not only the elegance and individuality of her personal style but also subtly underscores the stature and influence she carries in her career.”
