Why Meghan Markle’s Paris Fashion Week Trip Has the Palace on Edge Now
Meghan Markle surprised fans when she attended the Balenciaga Show during Paris Fashion Week. But perhaps no one was more surprised than the royal family.
According to a report, the duchess’s in-laws were shocked to see her back in Europe. The last time she was on the continent was in 2023 when she attended the Invictus Games in Düsseldorf, Germany. And before she was in England when Queen Elizabeth II died. But now that she’s making unexpected trips for things like fashion shows has the Palace worried.
The reason Palace insiders are uneasy about Meghan’s European visit is because it may be a signal that she’s looking to spend more time closer to the royal family’s turf, and they fear she could cause problems for them.
Tom Sykes, editor for The Daily Beast, revealed he was told by a former Palace courtier: “If they (Harry and Meghan) really plan to spend more time here it changes everything. It puts them back in the frame, and that’s not what anyone expected.”
However, this could be much ado about nothing because Meghan was in Paris for a specific reason. The former Suits star‘s spokesperson shared that she attended the fashion house’s show to support her friend, new creative director, Pierpaolo Piccioli, saying, “Over the years, the duchess has worn a number of designs by Pierpaolo. They have worked closely together, collaborating on design for key moments on the world stage.
“She has long admired his craftsmanship and modern elegance, and [that night] was no different. The evening reflects the culmination of many years of artistry and friendship, reflected in her support for his new creative chapter at Balenciaga.”
